Today, there is no reason to buy specialized handheld console, since it's more convenient to have Phone or Tab. Most of people like to play casual games for which phone and tab power is enough. And it's easy to carry, since you have to carry phone anyway. Handheld consoles is already dead branch anyway. Both 3DS and Vita are struggling from very bad sales and nothing will help them. It's not relative to "freedom" on these consoles at all. They are simply redundant today.
For Sony, the good way is to push development for their smartphones to replace Vita/PSP. This is the only way to remain on handheld market.

I have to say I got mine months ago at launch, bought a few games for it, was amazed, collected dust afterwards for months, slight regret.

However, in the last few weeks since I have had so much fun with eCFW on it and having a nostalgia trip to when I was addicted to CFW and homebrew on my PSP, I've actually appreciated my Vita and not look at it like some kind of illegitimate mistake of a child.

Money isn't the issue here, I personally don't care if I have to spend £50 on a system or £500 but what is important is the experience I get from it, how well supported it is, the games and most of all how much use I make of it.

The Wii for example was awesome for a few months but I honestly haven't played on that thing properly for nearly a year...a YEAR!!!

Sony need to get their act together and pumping out trash like those butchered versions of COD and Resistance...come on you morons those two alone (especially COD) would've made the PS Vita relevant but due to those being absolute failures, the Vita is seen by the public and unfortunetly developers as "great system with loads of potential...but I'll pass for now, thanks".

The hell are you talking about? In September the 3DS had sold over 22m units...with Xmas coming up you do the math.

Well no surprise here. There are no good Vita games...what's the use of outstanding graphics if there is no good games. These consoles/handhelds are useless without good games. Vita is another PSP Go. RIP Vita til its resurrected with good list of games...

I don't get what are the signs that Sony didn't see that Vita is going to flop. Even forgetting the fact that a huge amount of people are pissed off with them and they are going to boycoot them there is a bunch of other factors that would lock the destiny of the sales of that device so badly that I doubt someone wouldn't guess.

1. Global Economy Crisis
2. BAD BAD BAD quality and quantity of exclusives
3. Bad pricing, and when I say bad pricing, I mean BAAAD.
4. Really mediocre device that lacks got that "wow" factor that all previous consoles had including the PSP.
5. People prefering mobile devices as mobile phones or tablets for gaming.
6. Generaly a new and successfull wave of alternative and inexpensive ways of gaming that draws attention finaly to big name developers and publishers.
7. Nintendo 3DS offers pretty like everything a hardcore and pure portable console player needs without the bad behaviour of a company like Sony.
8. They (Sony) don't even bother to hide the fact that their new strategy/policy is to sale something to you and they will do whatever they want and you have to "eat" that whether you like it or not, that's it and they'll have the first and last word on any metter because they "said so".(exclude the hacking etc factors, I don't mean these on my example)

And the list goes on and on and on...

In my opinion Vita will be the last portable that Sony will create for many reasons. I was pretty sure that those bad and going worse salles would happen and I'm pretty possitive that by the time of PS4's release the device will be already for some months in the state PSP is right now. They should be smart and merge their Playstation Brand with Google and Android. I'd say that I wouldn't expect that but with the Playstation Certified/Suite, I can see a faint and promising light to that case and so I'll say "we'll see" instead.

Recipe of success for Sony:

1) Hire idiotic engeeners who will make lots of stupid decisions in relation to design and software (like Nintendo always do)
2) Make a new console with cheap and old generation parts (like Nintendo always do)
3) Make the price as for a console with new gen parts (like Nintendo always do)
4) Release lots of low budget sequels of old games for children. Almost don't spend money for adult AAA titles.

Success guaranteed (proved by Nintendo).

cmon sony u can do it im actually using my vita right now i just hate pople tlking sht about the vita eventhough they havnt try it... i swapped my ylod ps3 for a vita and im happy with it vita can creat console experince on the go while mobile games are just casual crap with bad graphics

but who wouldnt want console games on the go i bought one because of it just support the vita cause they gave us a beast hardware even its pricey its all worth it you wouldnt want a crappy hardware specs.. tell me any mobile game that comes close to uncharted or any mobile racing game that matches need for speed most wanted on the vita none

Pissed about it, the more you guys reiterate its downfalls the more I want to punch myself in the face for buying one, after buying one at launch and really enjoying uncharted I had really high hopes, how soon things change.

I really hope there isn't a price drop as its the only thing that stops me from feeling totally shafted.
