Thats insane :P Your ps3 is going to be bricked someday by you, sorry to say it. But really, I swear, you are gonna destroy your PS3 someday :D Even the topbanner says you cannot hack firmwares higher than 3.55, you would have to downgrade then (as the topbanner _also_ says) :D Edit: Seriously guys, what are you guys doing, you are trying to get him to buy a flasher and downgrade... We are talking about a guy that just put a CFW file on an USB stick and thought he could hack his PS3 without further ado. He WILL break if he uses a flasher, you are helping him brick :O He isn't gonna gonna check his dumps (in this case we should probably use the singular version of the noun: dump) before he downgrades, and it shows his dump was bad :O I'm not trying to be cruel, but some things shouldn't be done by some people for their own sake, based on their previous statistics, its calling for trouble :O Just as people that has never soldered before, shouldn't feel content about themselves suddenly being able to RGH their xbox 360, considered all the small and sensitive electronic parts there is on the XBOX 360 PCB. It might work out - and in many cases it does just fine, but the odds are still too high to deem it something that is wise doing. Last edited by oPolo; 11-24-2012 at 09:00 AM. |

Maybe you could walk me through the right way to do it before I buy any $60 flasher and brick my PS3.

If you have never properly soldered before, please dont start practicing on your PS3. You will regret it.

Are you confident/profficient with a soldering iron? If you are, a flasher such as progskeet is the cheaper solution. If you are not then I would go for a solderless solution (I figured you have a slim PS3, there are solderless solutions for those). The E3 flasher has a clippable setup, so you dont have to solder it to your ps3. I recall there being a clip too for progskeet, but I do not know about that. Anyway those are the two most used. E3 is probably the most used due to the convenience of not soldering, which by many is preferred, understandably. An important thing to know is that those clips can be ****s when it comes to be "clicked" on correctly, so make MULTIPLE dumps of your flash so that you know it is applied correctly to your PS3 and gives consistent results. In short, make multiple dumps and verify that they are identical... _important_. If you **** up in the downgrading process and dont have a useable dump to flash back your PS3, your PS3 is down for the count .Also, when you have made the dumps and they are consistent (so you don't waste peoples time with a bad dump), make sure / feel free to have us in here confirm your dump as being ok. When those things are done, its basically about altering the dump (so that it becomes a 3.55CFW dump) and flash the changed dump back to the PS3. From there you can upgrade through recovery mode (atleast if you update to Rogeros CFW 4.31, don't think recovery mode is that big a deal for rebugs CFW...). Oh, REMEMBER to dehash your PS3 BEFORE You update it to one of the newer CFWs. remember that! And remember to QA flag it. I would assume the dehash and QA flag part is mentioned in the various CFW upgrade tutorials around here though, but I am mentioning it just to be safe. ![]() Edit: Also, ALWAYS hang on to your working dumps, never delete them. And promise me, you have a bit more organization in your dumps than I have... My Wii NAND dump is on some secure storage in the cloud somewhere I cannot remember right now.. But its safe. My xbox on the other hand, **** I have so many dumps for that **** and I only remembered to sort half of it (puts gun to the head)... Its a bit easier with the xbox though, you can always get a donor dump, AS LONG as you have some dump from the xbox that contains the kv (keyvault), which can be extracted to the donor dump. Anyway, that is another console hacking scene. ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* When they then **** up, they come in here (or in case of xbox RGHing they come to team xecutors webpage), trying to ask for help AND expect something can be done (maybe because they are desperate)... The fun thing is that after they have molested their console with a soldering iron, they still insist on wanting to do the repair themselves. >_< Well, I'm a cheapskate too and not any better (and I probably have too high thoughts about my own skills as well), so I understand I guess Perhaps the problem is people don't have any hardware to practice on, before getting to the real deal.
