Renaming is needed, if you use a newer update.bin.
The updates that generate 3 backups at once are named bkpps30.bin, bkpps31.bin, bkpps32.bin.
So you would need to validate, and then rename to bkpps3.bin. If it is not named bkpps3.bin the flasher will give you an error.

I use the Samsung 10.28 update.bin. Because it permits to use the flasher on multiple consoles. That update.bin will only generate 1 backup. And it is already named bkpps3.bin.

So, I guess you are both right.

(dual boot with E3) install cfw to the E3 NOR chip image 1 set the switches as 1 down / 2 up / 3 down / 4 up / 5 down / 6 down and power on the ps3 wait 30 seconds. when the E3 Flasher is ready then the blue led's will flash between :- 1 on / 2 off / 3 on / 4 off / 5 on / 6 off / 7 on / 8 off 1 off / 2 on / 3 off / 4 on / 5 off / 6 on / 7 off 8 on press start the blue led's will stop flashing and go out. then they will turn on one at a time slowly from left to right once all the led's are on it will then start flashing again. if it doesnt flash and instead some of the blue led's turn off then you have an error a light on means 1 a light off means 0 there should also be an error code in the sd card

After doing this part of your tutorial our PS3 SLIM CECH2504B 0C has some problems:

- No Picture on TV in both Modes
- eSata HDD does not react on Booting
- USB seems to not work properly

Any Idea to fix this?

We checked soldering two times, looks good so far.
Flashing bkpps3.bin(patched) works.

this might sound like a dumb question. But do i have to have all of the components in the ps3 if i want to see if i have connected the clip right to make the first dump?(when i check the lights for the errorcode...) E3 flasher is the one i'm using.

im trying to creat my dumps but im having some problems ... first thing is that im not getting no error code in my sd card after i press reset or after i press start the only thuing im getting after i press start in the sd card is this "start logging...backup PS3 BIOS.fail to initialize E3 Nor." and thats in a txt file named e3 flasher. and after i press start and the blue lights are supposed to light up 1 by 1 it dfoesent . when i press start the bluew lights go off and then then 3 of them come back on i think its the 2nd light , and the 4th and the fith light or 3 5 and 6. any help?

The blue lights are 1. the others are 0. Put it together like 10001100. It's the errorcode. and it means your clip is not correctly connected. I've been stuck with this forever. don't know what to do

Will you have to format your hdd during the downgrade proces? If yes, how can i backup my content if I am on 3.73 with no ftp server?
