Just had an alarming thought...

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but ive just been thinking if Black Ops 2 has been coded to sniff the console for CFW and therefore deny access, what is to stop all games doing this? I bet its really easy for some game code to recognise it, it finds it, then doesnt just stop multiplayer but denys access to playing the whole game :-/ I could see Sony implementing this to every game an initial piece of code that checks it on each game, a little similar to the AP 2.5 checks on the Xbox do you guys think this is a concern?

how could it sniff out what firmware is implemented?

like by check a 32 digit hex code?? maybe they could call it a key? lol cause games already do this

if they did implement a check like this i'm pretty sure we could just patch whatever files it checks.. it's a game of cat and mouse and so far we have been able to keep up with them so i don't think you need to worry :P

I get what your saying but if Black Ops just did that, it would check the hex code of the FW like any other game and let us online then? But it doesnt. Surely it must be checking something further.. Id imagine its easy to do, there would be all sorts of places it could look, homebrew located in the xmb, signature pieces of code or modified code in the FW...all sorts. Hell until recently it would just have had to look for "install package files" in the xmb, rogero took that away yet still it doesnt work. Also, would it be easy to bypass? Im no coder so not sure, it would prob have to be located in the eboot that might be relatively easy to extract and mod, but could it be wrapped into the actual game code like it is in Black Ops (or maybe theres is done server side since its on multiplayer not sure). But I would think its a possibility to wrap it up in game code then that would be a nightmare to bypass right? :-/
