I fail to see the irony in that. They "stole" copyrighted code from Nintendo (basically ripped it off a legit game cartridge) and use it on the carts in order to make the NDS recognize it as a legit game. They don't own the code they're using and yet use it to sell their products.

Like I said they were so damn cheap. It felt not right to not buy one. I probably wouldn't have opened it if I never got my hands on my brothers R4. But curiosity got the better of me when he said he had one

Keeping at a bit of topic but you might want to give 999 a chance.

Back to topic.

Seems to me it's mostly R4 that gets all these problems. Supercard, M3, Acekard and the others seems to stay outside Nintendo's radar in some way. Sure my Supercard DsTwo does get blocked with almost every firmware like all of them. But no law suits that I have seen reports of.

Maybe its because they come without any code or program what so ever att start. And you have to add all that your self,

Why "Stole"? and not stole?.
Hell, maybe the even sold that cartridge to the highest bidder.
They know, we don't.

Also why Nintendo is on *Sue* mode now?, they could done that ages ago.

Irony or beyond ridiculous, we don't know 100% sure wtf happened.
Or do we?...

Nintendo just sued some low life importer that ended in Jail for ONE year for 26.000 cartridges.
I see irony, injustice, lack of honesty and dirty business but it's just my point of view.
They put in jail some random reseller when you have thousands all over the globe.

Hit the nail on the head.

It's not illegal to sell hardware that can be used for Piracy, but it is illegal to sell hardware that has pirated code on it at point of sale.

So E3 flasher for example and Progskeet are legal to sell on US? (really i don't know about this since i don't get what's the difference).
But it's also legal to sell TB or any DRM device?...they will not be chased by any company/etc or eventually get sued.

I don't get it.

Any other example of hardware that has pirated code on it at point of sale?.
That's not R4's cartridges.

lol... I don't get it either as I never even used an R4 thingummyjig, but copyrighted code is illegal to distribute (or alter) without permission.

Hardware is hardware and as long as it does not breach any hardware copyrights, it's what is on it at point of sale that makes it a yes or no

You do realize you can buy NDS games at pretty much any game shop right?
They bought a game, ripped the code they needed off it. And I said "stole" because they don't exactly steal the code, more like, as said above they pirate it.

Post-patent Famiclones:

Some of Nintendo's patents on the Famicom expired in 2003, followed in 2005 by NES-specific patents such as those covering the 10NES lockout chip. While Nintendo still holds various related trademarks, NES hardware clones are no longer necessarily illegal on the basis of patent infringement. This matter is complicated by the effect of different patents awarded in different countries, with different expiration dates. Nintendo sued Gametech in 2005 for selling the PocketFami, despite the patent expiration. Nintendo lost this suit.[citation needed] However, Famiclone manufacturers who incorporate copyrighted games into the unit may still be subject to legal liability on that basis, due to copyrights having much longer terms than patents (in most countries creative works such as games are automatically in copyright for many decades, sometimes up to 95 years after their creation)

I complain because most all of his posts aren't news but just his speculation about something. I'm well aware that I don't have to read his stories, however I do have to scroll past all the non PS3 news to actually find something PS3 related on a PS3 site.
