3k3y status update!

- Final hardware verification will start this week. All parts have been tested on development boards so no surprises are anticipated.

- While built-in disk ripping does work, it is too slow to be practical. There is another way which is much faster and can most likely be delivered in a future update, but we will not have time to verify this before launch. So we decided to remove built-in disk ripping from the feature list and put it on the WIP list.

- We have designed and completed software and a add-on board for connecting a PS3 drive to a PC via USB in order to dump games. This add-on board will be a part of the 3k3y kit.

A correction to the 3k3y status update: Built-in disk ripping will not be available on the release hardware. We took the hardware of 3k3y (where it was slow) and put it on an external board (where its blazing fast). This doesn't mean built-in disk ripping will never happen, it is still possible to do via the FPGA at high speeds.

This was added to the FB account after you posted the above.

Whilst it is technically possible, I could actually get it working if I could be bothered to look back through my notes from when I was doing disk work but I dont want to
Basically you have to make the homebrew into an ISO that looks like a retail disk ISO. Quite easy if you know enough about PS3 disks or if you have the Sony docs.

This is a legitimate hack and a lot of hard work went into it (yes you DO need the hardware for it) however, I think this will be a total flop now considering all the keys around. Unless they get it working on higher FWs, then it will succeed.
This is also useful for those who just wanna play their pirated.. sorry legally backed up games safely online.
You can even cheat with this the same as CFW if you know what youre doing

Ok so please enlighten me with the extra useful features this will provide for us cfw users? We already have multiman, hombrews, linux, psn access, usb games support, etc. What more could you possibly want? Plus this is still valid only for 3.55. Which just makes it that much useless for ofw 3.60+ users yet.(unless they find the method to extract bdr key from 3.60+). Meaning those people still require hardware downgrading. And after that they can then install the latest cfw's instead of buying this thing. What a nutcase you are.

Do you actually know what 3k3y is?

3k3y will allow us to play pirated games on OFW, that means: no bans!
