A big LOL here. XD
I remember the same happened with Amazon and their previous generation tablets. The sold each one of them in a part of the world for like 22-ish dollars instead of 199 because of a currency error which caused them a huge problem since in that country there were dozens pre-ordered and they could not do anything and the device was already getting sold at a loss so they were financialy screwed up.

I can always remember paying $60 for brand new releases back in the day. So if anything inflation is the one area that never hit console game prices. Perhaps its time for you price complainers to put down the call of duty and be a useful member to society and get a real paying job. Then you guys wont have to cry about the price of games to justify why you are a dirty pirate every other post. (comment not directed at the OP)
Hmm, I can't say too much on prices of games around the master system/nintendo era as I was too young to really realize what stuff cost. Though I was old enough during the SNES/Genesis age and I always remember them being right at $50 (unless of course it was Mario RPG, Starfox or something else that used the FX chip). Yeah everything was $50 ps2 and xbox because I remember *****ing when the 360 came out and I was like "$60, WTF... and I just got my own place! Rent or video games!?" Then C4eva, wiikey and Geohotz came around :D

He didn't say they go for $80 in the US. And since 60€ or 8000 yen translates to roughly US$75 and US$95 respectively, he is technically correct. :P
And yeah I've seen PS3 games for 70€ (hell even 75) on local retail shops, but online it's always 60.

People only pay high amounts of money if they want because they can import from other countries which could be cheaper than buying locally.

TheHut/Zavvi sends me discount codes all the time of 10% but what I want is still at £14.95 not £9.95 and it doesn't feel worth that much even. It's kind of a mediocre game, anyway.

Games (and game consoles) are expensive in Brazil because of import taxes / tax burden, its not Sony fault.
(Jogos e consoles são caros aqui no Brasil devido às tarifas de importação e impostos sobre jogos; não é culpa da Sony)
