Trying to do LED Home button mod

Hey guys, I just picked up my second PS3 yesterday got the super slim version. Anyways, I am trying to mod the new controller to have the home PS button light up. I cant find any diagrams of how to do it for this revision of the controller.

MSU_VX6_0.06

Here is a photo of the back of the board.

Please help!

Firstly Welcome to PS3 Hax

it would help if you could give us a pic of both sides of the controller.

I have dont this mod my self but i use a sixaxis controller and not dual shock, the viabration drives me nuts.

Firstly you want to have a low watt/power led, solder the +(positive) to your red wire (not the dual shock wires, usually the one that goes to you usb charging port) and when we get the other image we go from there.

Before you do this tho you need to know that when you controller is on the light is on thus it will cause your battery to go flat quicker (depending on led) and how you solder it it might stay on permanently.

but we will do out best to help you if you really want it.

Sure. Here is the front of the controller. Its not an issue for me to have it be constantly wired to the battery - that's easy. Id like for it to be on only when controller is on. I watched lots of youtube videos, but I guess my controller is nothing like the ones in the tutorials because my board layout is different.

I have all the materials already including the LED and the wire, I just need to know where the correct solder points are

you could jump off the controler number indication light so it lights up when on and flashes when charging. Note I do not have the mod installed either

Yes I have watched videos on Youtube. That video you posted is for a Sixaxis and was posted in 2008. There have been many many revisions of the circuit board, and that's why I am asking if anyone knows how to do it for the newer revision the one I posted. The methods on all of the videos on Youtube that I have seen do not work on this controller.

@geoldr , if you still need help maybe you can look up the printed numbers on these parts that i marked , or paste those numbers here.

the smaller ones look like voltage regulators, if so then there's a chance to get the power from there.

I looked at those chips on the board, and they are way too small to solder. I guess I won't be doing this mod.

power traces and ground traces are normally big enough to solder to, you could try if you could measure 3,3V on one of those larger traces.

@geoldr , this purple trace is 100% a power line (probably 3.3V) , i looked up the datasheet, it is a tri-axis accelerator something.
there's a good chance that this power line is only active when the controller is used.
