@Simonbuck

Here is a capture pic from my TVs resolution when my HTPC is on (via HDMI).
Its kinda crappy but you can see that the resolution is set to 1920x1080

"TV can receive the video and audio signal simultaneously with using a HDMI cable.
If the digital set-top box supports Auto HDMI function, output resolution of the digital set-top box will be automatically set to 1280x720p.
If the digital set-top box does not support Auto HDMI, you need to set the output resolution appropriately. To get the best picture quality, adjust the output resolution of the digital set-top box to1280x720p."

From what I understand, that means that TV IS capable of 1280x720 output.

And kindly trust me when I m saying that I have seen this TV outputting 1080i from PS3 through HDMI.

Despite of that, I tried again your suggestion. Plugged my PS3 in my HDMI PC monitor, selected HDMI and manually set resolution to 576p only. Unfortunately when I plugged it back in my TV problem was still there.

@parminder_11

I have already tried both your suggestions my friend, unfortunately none worked.

I believe its my TVs problem but what is driving me crazy is that all other devices connected to the same HDMI port work flawlessly.

Thank you both for your help so far

Regards

Correct me if im wrong, but the image you have posted clearly reports the display as SONY and not LG as you suggested your Tv was ??

Perhaps you need to contact LG and tell them the specifications in their manual are wrong for your TV

Thank you for reply.

Do you remember what you did to fix this the first time that happened? I ve read in some other forum that some people bypassed the HDCP problem by getting an HDMI switch between PS3 HDMI output and TV input.

Thank you once more

This problem really worried me As I have an e3 flasher to downgrade and I thought that was the problem (a brick) but luckily not and it still works with av but I understand nobody wants to play a ps3 on standard quality. This is extremely frustrating and all because Sony are worried about people using pvr's to record blu-rays sony always seem to let me don't on the console side of things but their tv's have always been good

EDIT: I do not currently own a Sony tv .. Prahaps if I did this issue may not occur (sony device to Sony device)

Well thats great news!

I ll look forward for your feedback.

I m not sure I understand your workaround... You changed hard disks between two PS3s or something?

Thank you again

Yes I swapped the Hdd into a fat ps3 then back to my slim (I wide shot I know but it was worth a try seeing as though nothing else was working ) but I think it just decided to start working again by pure coincidence so I think the Hdd swap in this case unfortunately has no relevance I'm afraid. It's also not often you have a spare ps3 lying around either.

EDIT: (just more info on the hdd swap just to make it slightly clearer on what i did)

I booted up the fat with the slim's Hdd inside then turned it off and then swapped the Hdd back into the slim and for some reason it decided to work but this time it did not. so again I'm sure the whole swap idea had no part of fixing my problem

Unfortunately I dont have a spare PS3 to test it.

I have power cycled my devices for about 10 minutes but didnt seem to fix the problem. Do you think that leaving them unplugged for more time will make a difference?

Thank you
