New TV with more than one HDMI connection is what you need. This is a ps3 website but your playstation is not your problem, you need a television repair guy, 100% carrenteed its your TV set thats broken. You can buy a nice size TV with all your bits built in with 2 or more HDMI sockets for a reasonable price these days, you wont need your AV receiver, chuck that thing and treat yourself to an early xmas present and you'll have no more probs I bet ya....

For the time being i m not planning to buy a new TV just because PS3 refuses to cooperate with my TV.
Worst case scenario will be to connect my ps3 via composite cable to the TV on 1080i and via optical cable to my AV Thank you for the reply Regards G |

Another thing to try is reset display settings (hold power on until you hear the second beep(which i guess you have done many times before, lol)) without any cables other than the power and then after 30 seconds turn the ps3 off and then reset the display settings again with the HDMI cable in this time (with your tv already on and HDMI channel selected) this may work but it's not doing for me. I just thought it would reset the display settings to near factory settings by having nothing in other than the power. Worth a try and can't do it any harm. Let me know how it goes and good luck! ************* [ - Post Merged - ] *************
What has happened is the ps3 has decided to refuse the connection to the tv because it thinks it's connected to an inline hdmi device such as a pvr and it is extremely difficult to convince the ps3 otherwise But yes your right a new tv will solve the problem but our devices are not broken and I guess determination has kicked in as well as not wanting to spend any extra money Last edited by BradB111; 11-27-2012 at 04:54 PM. |

If you mean resetting display settings...I ve tried all the possible combinations including your with no success.
I m thinking of something that is really far fetched and maybe I m talking nonsense but I m going to give it a try. Connected on my AV receiver are PS3, HTPC and a digital TV decoder. According to what u wrote there is a chance that PS3 recognizes one of them as a digital signal copier or something So for the time being I unplugged everything and I m going to try and connect my PS3 directly to the TV once more and see if it makes any difference Will let you know Thanks G |

1. Turn off tv and PS3 (standby is enough) 2. Unplug hdmi cable from the tv reciever from the tv 3. Start PS3 4. Start tv This happened at least 10 times to me. My setup: Phillips 37PFL5604H/12 Ferguson Ariva @Link 200 HDTV SAT Receiver PS3 Slim CECH-2004A

recently had this to, that was easy cuse the cheap hdmi cable failed, same error u have
then i'm sure u already tested it lol.... another thing is when the ps3 have been connected to scart/rgb and only putting in the hdmi after switch, the reset is working but u'll need to put both cables in it, switch tv to scart input after video reset and click OK for hdmi...switch to hdmi input...other then that i have no clue and again if already tryed all this crap..ignore the post
