New TV with more than one HDMI connection is what you need. This is a ps3 website but your playstation is not your problem, you need a television repair guy, 100% carrenteed its your TV set thats broken. You can buy a nice size TV with all your bits built in with 2 or more HDMI sockets for a reasonable price these days, you wont need your AV receiver, chuck that thing and treat yourself to an early xmas present and you'll have no more probs I bet ya....

For the time being i m not planning to buy a new TV just because PS3 refuses to cooperate with my TV.

Worst case scenario will be to connect my ps3 via composite cable to the TV on 1080i and via optical cable to my AV

Thank you for the reply

Regards

I have left my devices unplugged for aprox 48 hours (defiantly enough time for the capacitors to discharge) and still no luck so I would say it wouldn't make a difference but not every tv is the same. So you could try that but I doubt it would work, at a loose end yet again but I know my ps3 isn't 'broken' so I'm determined to fix it ...again. I'm am going to get a brand new Sony Bravia tv in the ne'er future which will almost defiantly solve my problem but I know I can fix the problem easily as I have done before.

Another thing to try is reset display settings (hold power on until you hear the second beep(which i guess you have done many times before, lol)) without any cables other than the power and then after 30 seconds turn the ps3 off and then reset the display settings again with the HDMI cable in this time (with your tv already on and HDMI channel selected) this may work but it's not doing for me.

I just thought it would reset the display settings to near factory settings by having nothing in other than the power. Worth a try and can't do it any harm.

Let me know how it goes and good luck!

Trust me out tv's are not 'broken' it's a HDCP issue because Sony is trying to prevent users using pvr's to record blu-ray movies off the ps3.

What has happened is the ps3 has decided to refuse the connection to the tv because it thinks it's connected to an inline hdmi device such as a pvr and it is extremely difficult to convince the ps3 otherwise

But yes your right a new tv will solve the problem but our devices are not broken and I guess determination has kicked in as well as not wanting to spend any extra money

If you mean resetting display settings...I ve tried all the possible combinations including your with no success.

I m thinking of something that is really far fetched and maybe I m talking nonsense but I m going to give it a try.

Connected on my AV receiver are PS3, HTPC and a digital TV decoder.
According to what u wrote there is a chance that PS3 recognizes one of them as a digital signal copier or something
So for the time being I unplugged everything and I m going to try and connect my PS3 directly to the TV once more and see if it makes any difference

Will let you know

Thanks

Yeh as I said everything is worth a try ... I'm currently sat here looking at my tv with a blue screen saying 'input not supported' as a result of this problem but hopefully we will change this

EDIT: Well checked my emails this morning and switch has been dispatched with a delivery estimate of tomorrow (Thursday)

This is not a problem with his tv, cable, ps3 or anything like that it's a HDCP issue or handshake issue. So that narrows it down. it would be helpful if people concentrated more on the HDCP issue as he has said everything works fine .. I am having the same problem and it's not to do with any of my devices.. My ps3 works on other tv's and other devices work on my tv. The cable is brand new and it works with everything except my ps3 -> tv. This is the problem he is having and I guess he's power cycled his devices (turned on then off at the wall socket) I have solved this issue before but by chance and I have tried it again just now and .. Nothing

Remember .. This is a HDCP issue not a hardware issue

Any help would be much appreciated by others and myself. Hope to have a fix soon and If I fix mine again I will share my fix

Thanks
My tv shows 'no signal' sometimes when i start my PS3. This is the way i fix it everytime:

1. Turn off tv and PS3 (standby is enough)
2. Unplug hdmi cable from the tv reciever from the tv
3. Start PS3
4. Start tv

This happened at least 10 times to me. My setup:
Phillips 37PFL5604H/12
Ferguson Ariva @Link 200 HDTV SAT Receiver
PS3 Slim CECH-2004A

Thank you for your feedback

My TV actually shows that gets a signal but stays showing a black screen.

Despite of that, I ve already tried your suggestion with no success.

Thank you

recently had this to, that was easy cuse the cheap hdmi cable failed, same error u have
then i'm sure u already tested it lol....

another thing is when the ps3 have been connected to scart/rgb and only putting in the hdmi after switch, the reset is working but u'll need to put both cables in it, switch tv to scart input after video reset and click OK for hdmi...switch to hdmi input...other then that i have no clue and again if already tryed all this crap..ignore the post
