I get that QA does not work under 4.xx but if I decide to downgrade, does it rehash automatically, or do I have to toggle everytime in order to dehash?

The reason I ask is when I do downgrade to ofw 3.55 I can use the button combo successfully, so im not sure if I needed to dehash or if t does it on every downgrade since it's always QA enabled.
I'm unclear on this also, I *believe* it's automatic. But all the guides and advice from people say to run it twice again (it's already on so from on to off back to on again) followed by a confirmation button combination again.

It's just good practice really and makes sure you don't end up with a brick.

I'm 99% sure the QA flag is persistent though, as you say, set it on 3.55 then theoretically you shouldn't need to touch it again.

....I could be wrong though, and that's the problem

Once you toggle it on, leave it on. Then you don't have to worry about again. You will be able to change firmwares without worry.

Turning it off can actually cause a brick, depending on what firmware you are on. If you downgrade and install a 3.55 CFW that doesn't have the checks removed, and you toggle qa flag off, you will brick.
Unless you were to install OFW 3.55 or lower, before you install CFW 3.55 with checks. Then is the console only truly dehashed.
If you don't, then Qa flag is only masking the checks. They are still lingering in the syscon chip.

A true dehash removes the checks from syscon. Which is accomplished by installing OFW 3.55 or lower, with qa flag toggled on.

I hope that makes sense. It made sense in my head before I said it. But it is fact.

Thanks for this, I was uncertain about the dehashing process on an already QA enabled ps3. I usually take extra steps by going back to ofw 3.55 and then jumping to a cfw. If it dehashes when downgrading to ofw that's perfect.

I don't have to ever worry about downgrade bricking...unless I do something stupid or power goes out lol
