It's just good practice really and makes sure you don't end up with a brick. I'm 99% sure the QA flag is persistent though, as you say, set it on 3.55 then theoretically you shouldn't need to touch it again. ....I could be wrong though, and that's the problem

Turning it off can actually cause a brick, depending on what firmware you are on. If you downgrade and install a 3.55 CFW that doesn't have the checks removed, and you toggle qa flag off, you will brick. Unless you were to install OFW 3.55 or lower, before you install CFW 3.55 with checks. Then is the console only truly dehashed. If you don't, then Qa flag is only masking the checks. They are still lingering in the syscon chip. A true dehash removes the checks from syscon. Which is accomplished by installing OFW 3.55 or lower, with qa flag toggled on. I hope that makes sense. It made sense in my head before I said it. But it is fact.

I don't have to ever worry about downgrade bricking...unless I do something stupid or power goes out lol |
