ok i don't go in tutorial sections much but i just saw this and saw one thing that was bugging me out so naturally i need to ask to satisfy my curiosity ,is step 2 from this tutorial necessary if you are already on 3.55 cfw or any other lower cfw like 3.41,and if it is,why?

i personally didnt do step 2 as i couldnt get it to work. i was on rebug 3.55 and tried about 30 times. if you ps3 has NEVER been past 3.55 i think it would be ok (mine works and 4.21 rex is doing fine here), if it was downgraded to 3.55, then what i read you MUSt do it otherwise you will brick.

yeah i updated just in different way i was on kmeaw,after that updated to rebug rex 3.55 from there i enabled QA from the toolbox and after that installed rebug 4.21

for now stay away from 4.21 REX, most psn pkgs are not compatible unless you know how to re-encrypt the eboots to 4.21. i've been there, not so much fun. if you want to play new games with 3.55, use DarkEboot Fixer v5.0 to fix eboots/updates. just install 3.55 REX, its better and safe

Thanks for the help.I was almost sure psn games fixed for 3.55 wouldn't work on CFW 4.XX,but needed to confirm anyway and i also don't know how to re-encrypt the pkgs.

About 3.55 Rex ,does Psn work? Because i tried with my 3.55 Kmeaw (with Enable/Disable Spoof 4.31 SGK) and it doesn't work ,asks to update.

So in this case , Psn is only available for CFW 4.XX =/
This is one more reason for me to update the CFW.I really wanted to update my trophies on Psn.

I found a post on this forum about 3.55 Psn games being fixed for CFW 4.30 , now i'm in doubt between 4.21 Rex and Rogero 4.30 V 2.0 , the problem is that Rebug is safer and more stable.

are you pertaining to psn games or online access? psn games works (use reactpsn for some, while others have fix like duplex releases), no online gaming for sure.

also why i don't install 4.21 REX is that codeunique is not compatible with it.

I didn't want to lose some psn games , mostly the ones i mentioned before (The walking Dead , i am alive, etc) but since they are recent games , i guess they might work on CFW 4.XX.

You said you don't want to install 4.21 Rex because the codeunique is not compatible , you mean the pkgs fixed for 3.55 that are not compatible?

there's no need for any fix since 4.21 is higher by any means to 3.55. you can also install any official updates signed with <4.21 keys. 4.30 games is a different story, you'll be needing a fix like in case of cod bo2.

the cons of 4.21 are:
a. no codeunique
b. 3.55 psn games fix are not working (you should make a new fix, use darkeboot fixer 5.0, patch them for 4.21 cfw)
c. can't make your own cheat pkg for some games like final fantasy XIII-2, console goes to recovery mode

what's good with 3.55 CFW is that after decrypting games for higher fw, you can encrypt them with 3.55 keys to make them work. You can also do that with darkeboot fixer 5.0. so absolutely you can make any games work in 3.55 now as long as the keys to decrypt the eboots are available. if only homebrews like codeunique will be updated to 4.21, i will install 4.21 REX immediately. but i have read that codeunique can't be updated since it's a hacked app based from ps3usercheat. so it's a closed application, but let's hope Oct0xor and Flat_z can do a workaround to update the homebrew.
