Fews games required to be played on hdtv but you can edit the param,sfo to make it working on SD resolution.

For game regions, there are only fews games restricted to the ps3 region, can be locked from param.sfo (with parameter as region_deny) or the self (have read different case, not sure which one or even both case can be)
