this is the big question
i went into irc to ask about a solder point and was told there that the wiki has my guide marked as a brick guide along with kala(somthing)'s youtube guide

i have spoke to euseNL im p/m on here in the past and nothing was ever said but euseL on irc said he read the first part and stopped reading when he counted the 16 (i may be wrong on the number. its in my main post) errors

the first part of my guide is about if you can downgrade. what fsm dongles you can buy. what tools & flashers you need.

can this part really brick?

the calling the wikki out part is about waht i am saying here and in my main post.
also that there are errors in the wiki
ie it says the prefered way to de-hash is to use fsm.
i have allways soft bricked doing that way and when i had that in the guide everyone who de-hashed in fsm also soft bricked.
so that needs removing from the wiki as it soft bricks

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

if you go into one of the 4 guides and go into the "needed downloads" tab then click on the package
you will be taken to my github where you can see the number of times each pack has been downloaded
put that number against the 10 that have aledgedly bricked using this guide and decide for yourself if the guide is a risk or are the bricks more likely user error.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

and to finnish
i have had right from day 1 in red writing
if anyone finds an error in this guide please post it in red so it can be fixed

is it really so hard for the devs to do this?
or is it better to post on the wiki that my guide is a brick guide and not say where.

but put kalle"whatever"'s youtube is there too but with a big list of where and why

go figure!!
************* [ - Post Merged - ] *************
also when i was told about the brick warning i pulled it from the 3 threads on the 3 sites that i have controle of (the guide is posted / coppied on forums all over the place now)
but after a week of it being down and discussion with ppl i made the decission to re-post on hax but with the full reason on why it was pulled and a full reason why it should not be followed in the main post.

i have not hidden anything from anyone. yet still no word by anyone on where or how this guide bricks

Quick question: in the guide you give a download link to files that you use throughout the process of updating the E3 Flasher and so forth (update.bin, etc). If I use the most recent versions of these files supplied by E3 (here) would this be okay? Or is there really no benefit to using their updated files to downgrade?

the update in the dual boot folder is the latest (it also has the date in the folder name. so if e3 update then just use the latest date one)

the update in the main folder is the samsung multi console one.
so if you dont plan on dual booting then this updates allows more than 1 console to be dumped / flashed

to @japsander (just to keep you updated. this isnt directed at you )
and who ever is reporting the guides
and last but not least to the users of the guides

added direct links on each guide to the validate pages on the wiki

updated first post to state this

the following is from the main post. this has allways been there

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disclaimer
I have done my best to insure this has a low brick possibility. but you are messing with your system files and hardware so there will never be a brick proof guide
I am not a dev etc. just someone who wanted an easy to follow up to date guide that was fool proof.
I call it the ultimate Fool Proof guide as this guide was made for me.
so if I can follow it anyone can.

Ok Well i am still waiting for my wires to arrive so i can solder on the flasher but. i have read your guide and the wik's guide there is no big difference except in different methods of doing the downgrade.

Listed hare: http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/E3#Ma...3_downgrade_v2

They recommended you use this method:

Code:
Flash Fun Downgrade Process (Highly Recommended) - also for Debricking

Requires soldering! See also E3's official PDF on repairing a bricked console 1. Solder the Tristate of the PS3 to the SBE pad on the E3's ribbon.
2. Patch your bkpps3.bin with Rogero's PS3 Nor Dump Patcher v0.01 or patch it manually. Once that's done, place it by itself on a micro SD Card.
3. Flip all switches down, except the first one (Flash Fun). Turn the PS3 on (If you get a 1101111 error the Tristate is not on correctly). When PS3 is powered on, press the START button on the E3 and wait for the LED's on the indicator to reach 100% (Once finished they will flash alternatively). From this point you have the option to check the log which is saved on the MircoSD which will tell you if the writing process was successful or not - this may or may not be a valid indicator.
From this point on, follow the main guide starting from Reinstall firmware in Factory Service Mode
How To Patch Your Dump Manually

E3 dumps are byte reversed, and so must our patches (otherwise we have to reverse, paste the v2 in the REV, reverse back again - using byte reversed patches shortcuts that 'reversing confusion')
Dump the flash with the E3, you will end up with a .bin file (e.g. bkpps3.bin)
  http://www.ps3devwiki.com/files/flas...3%20downgrade/
and there is this one:

http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Talk:...ia_Rogero_V3.7

may be little bit different not by much - I'm no expert on this I'm an amateur hacker trying to learn.

now not sure but i think the validation of your dumps is different because i still don't get it on how to follow it. the i wiki says to follow this one:

http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Talk:...ng_flash_dumps

or this:

http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Validating_flash_dumps

which makes absolute no sense to me at all. do i have to find the exact matching headers/hex values when i cheek my dumps or something? but each dump is different or should be different so different hex values for different version of firmware right because i am doing this from 4.31 or will hex values not change?
************* [ - Post Merged - ] *************
i would also advice or recommend in putting some pictures a birds eye view of how the E3 Clip is installed or how it looks like on the mother with it all fully connected and maybe a TUT on putting it back together again with he clip on. and how the E3 Linker is on.

because some N00bs cannot seem to trace back there steps.

take me for example i can put it back to gather as long nothing changes. bit since i am putting a new component in the PS3 the method of putting it back together may differ. so i would be grateful if some 1 could point me the way on how u out it back to gather with the E3 Linker installed.

like once i have the E3 Linker with 53 wires soldered on and the other 53 on the motherboard + E3 board plugged into the Esta connector on the motherboard. were do i go next just put it back to gather like normal? because i seen people pluging the thing in when half way built in or when the PS3 is complete resembled.

what worries me i have never reassembled a PS3 console with the ESATA port connected. when i pulled my PS3 apart and put it back gather i had the hard-rive out then put it back in at the end.

and with 53 wires all squished together i think that's not very safe would i rap them together with electric tape? in one bungle.

oh my god
progskeets official downgrade guide's
http://www.progskeet.com/downloads/NOR_eng.pdf
http://www.progskeet.com/downloads/NAND_eng.pdf

the only check it does is a statistics check.
thats it.
nothing else
it doesnt even tell you to goto the ps3devwiki's verify page to check your dump.

this company sells you a tool then skips every single check to insure you have a good dump

and my guide is in the wiki as a brick guide!
wtf is going on over there?
@euss this is a guide your happy to have ppl follow? no warning in the wiki
and mine is bashed? with no indication of where mine is wrong
thanks pal

@urbananonymous You byte reverse and extract your .bin purely to verify it is valid.

I've never used e3downgrade.bin myself. I always patch the valid dump and flash that to the PS3.
