Is the color code on the resistor in the picture the one I need to get? I know there are different types of resistors. Also, what type of transistor do I need? I have never directly worked with a transistor. |

i only don't get why they would change their circuit boards so these new board can't handle a led.
i almost begin to wonder what type of led you bought, and how much current it draws. for the resistor i think a 4k7 would do fine, i guess even a 10Kohm one would work. this resistor depends a bit on how much current the led will draw. maybe you have an old circuit board to rip parts from. ![]() for the transistor i mostly use the bc547, it's very common, but other small npn transistors should work fine too. do you by any chance have a meter that can measure the current? , personally i would not exceed 10ma through the led, it will be bright enough. EDIT: i would defenitely use a small resistor like 100ohm between the led too, although others say it's not needed. i will experiment later on this day myself, about the resistors and current with a led on 4V. u have some knowledge there about this stuff, although it may look easy for some it isn't for others ![]() anyway i modded 3 myself all without a resistor and the controller drawns empty not so fast ..then again each resistor i had made the led not shine that bright ![]() great help there Mr.Dutch with all the schema's etc... me goes out topic again cuse i'm a noob at this stuff.... |

can't say i'm a pro too, so i hope we don't get some unexpected errors.
![]() @geoldr , here's a new schematic with a resistor between the led, to keep the current down. it's not needed for it to work, but your controller will last longer. ![]() this trick will only work if TP28 have voltage when the controller is on, when off it should read 0V. and if the battery's black wire is connected to ground. i soldered a transistor out of an old clockradio, and the resistors too. ![]() ![]() i'm still surprised we need this trick to get it to work, since the older controllers work just fine with leds, so check your led if you did not messed up somewhere. ![]() if you go on with this schematic then check if everything is working ok, like the charging part. |

Sorry for the delay in response, I have been really busy with work. I will soon have some time, and I will find a transistor and do as you suggested.
