SogeKingOP were you able to play any hombrew after you downgraded because that's how i found out that the logicboard has been demarried somehow as no hombrew works.

if i flash back my 4.30 e3 backup over my currant 3.55cfw will there any brick problems?
Homebrew worked from what I remember. If you have a blue LED near the eject button and can actually apply system updates from USB, we probably have a different problem

No I thought blue led was on but after checking it seems not. What fw were you on and what homebrew was working for you and to find out if the logicbord is working or not just follow bayleys guide on whare it's says how to get into FSM and install the fw that u were on when hombrew was working and then get out out FSM and check if hombrew is working for u,if yes then just buy a new drive., your going need a downgrade dongle for FSM tho as thats the only way to apply updates without a working bluray drive.

I have the same problem, my PS3 slim arrived back from a downgrade and now it won't accept discs, the blue LED flashes when you try to insert a disc but the drive doesn't grab it.

There are 3 screws missing on the bottom of the PS3 casing below the blu-ray drive, I know it's a long shot but could this be the problem?

So ****ing gutted, this is the second PS3 I've had now and still got problems, and this one is much worse, It can't even read discs/accept them!

then the person who downgraded it, obvious did not check if the system was working properly.

hope it's not someone from this forum.

did you checked the ribbon cables?, and is the drive's power cable plugged in?
i guess so, else you would not be able to run anything...

i have a drive with symptoms like that, but i'm too lazy to look into the problem, and it's a drive for the fat ps3

I'm not going to open up the console, I shouldn't have to. Beside the point I've already given it to a local repair shop to sort out.

I have been sent two faulty consoles, I paid keano £50 to do my original console. Which I have received back today, which no longer accepts discs. It doesn't even take in a disc!

Unbelievable.

I have spent upward of £100 now and am truly devastated.

I have never seen this.

I still think @SogeKingOP problem is a ribbon. You want me to send you the other 3 ribbons?

I did and his reply was:

t is your ps3 the one you sent me, check it you will see the crap at the side air vents, I never even touch the drive, you do not touch the drive when downgrading, Do you think that after everything that has happened I am not going to test it ! I played Batman blu ray on it on Thursday night from start to finish with no issues.
I put back every single screw that I take out of peoples consoles because its their console and I look after other peoples property. Your console came to me with no seal in place so its not me who tampered with the drive.
Regarding the drive It must have been damaged in transit which is not surprising really when its only got a couple of carry bags for protection.
Oh and the one you sent back, perfect when horizontal and a few noises when vertical hardly chain saw sounds has you described it.

Do me a favour don’t contact me again you have been the biggest pain in the neck I have ever come across.
Which is the strangest reply I've ever heard. He's defending sending me a piece of ****. He's lying all over that reply. For a start the PS3 I sent him had never been opened. Second the PS3 came back missing 3 screws, when he objects that. He's a ****ing liar.
