That's exactly right... you aren't going to see graphics and such any better that a high end pc right now can do. This next gen stuff isn't going to be nearly the leap from SD to HD that we had when we got the 360 and ps3. At most the best the consoles could possibly do is a constant 60fps at 1080p, anything higher would be kinda worthless as TVs wouldn't support it. I think we are entering the age of gimmicks (or more so). I would love to have a dead to real VR gaming console but it has to be done right and work well. Nobody wants more half ass ****ty hit detection from a kinect because you have too much light or not enough or GOD FORBID a coffee table! I want solid gameplay that I can get into and not have to completely rearrange my living room. Until Sony or Microsoft can do this RIGHT I don't want to see it at all.

Livewall = Obviously fake.
Different games on different walls?
LOL, doubt it'll even handle one modern game at 1080p/60fps let alone different games on different walls.

If they 'look' exciting, where are the pictures?

I won't be buying a PS4 if it isn't more/equally powerfull as an xbox360, why even bother with a 'small' update to the PS3 if the NextGen xbox is much MUCH more powerfull.. Never been a fan of xbox, but the rumored specs of the PS4 are just awfull..
Also it's not clear to me if the 'digital or retail and a copy in the cloud' is only for new PS4 games or for any PS1/PS2/PS3 game you already own (that would be a good thing). And having a dongle to be able to play your old PS3 games all depends on the price of the PS4 itself (at least to me), the price of a dongle will drop eventually so it'll be very interesting (better a simple dongle than having to have a complete PS3 under your tv next to your PS4 (and any other device))..

Nothing about the new Sony looks even slightly exciting. It comes a whole year after the Wii U and it's only slightly better? If anything about this article is true, I'll be going with the Wii U and Xbox 720 setup. That is until I can find a nice used PS4 a few years down the road.

A few things that set up my "complete bull****" alarm... the leap from WiiU to PS4 will definitely be big. WiiU is basically a 360, you can't compare any of those games to Square's latest tech demo. And if you look back at Square's PS2 and PS3 tech demos you'll see they don't lie. The leap from 720p to 1080p alone is pretty big. You won't see any but the most basic looking WiiU games support that res.

Secondly, the bit about a PS3 dongle. Just lol. That thing would have to be the size of a harddrive with its own fan.

Well at least they're giving us the option to pay for BC or not. It's a good one imo. People who never had a PS and get a PS4 can get PS1/2/3 games through PSN, while people with PS3s can opt for the extra dongle and play all their games.

At least that's better than paying for the same games all over again.

Unless you have super amazing X-Men styled eyesight you will barely notice the difference between the current ps3 and the ps4 [Omni] or xbox720.

If you look at this review on 4k TV and it's feasibility in the traditionally sized TV audience (32 to 55 inch) then the extra sharpness is only visible if you go right up to the screen.

http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-33199_7...vs-are-stupid/

based on that the leap into the next gen will as japsander said "the leap isnt that big. just shinier" The new consoles will most likely be kitted out for the 4k TVs BUT that means nothing as you wont notice the difference unless you have an 84 inch television (see http://techland.time.com/2012/08/30/sony-4k-hdtv/).

The only real reason to upgrade to any of the new consoles would be that new games would eventually be released on them only (same way as there is no God of War 3 for the PS2, even though they could if they dumbed down the graphics)

uhh... I agree 4K is useless for about 90% of the consumers, but even with fullhd (1920x1080p) there is a LOT of improvement over the current gen consoles, more detail, objects/particles and better realtime lightning which all require much MUCH more GPUpower as the current gen has.. which is already visible on small 32" tv's (yes to me 32" is small).. Just look at the PC version of battlefield 3 at the same resolution (but with every other effect on) looks much MUCH better than the console version (which still looks great and is mostly even held back by the lack of memory)..
One thing is sure though, better graphics certainly doesn't make it a better game....... But then ofcourse I'd rather play a good looking bad game, than a bad looking bad game... hehe.. but I certainly rather play a bad looking good game than a good looking bad game....

I think the big leap in the next gen will be the integration for the system OS, especially for the PS4. The current in-game XMB is slow as ****, and no cross game voice chat or custom sound track.

And Livewall? Give me a break. I think Sony has now learned to not release anything information without anything solid to back it up, as we saw with the ps3 prototype. Microsoft is probably gonna fall in the same hole sony did if this Livewall thing falls way short of these rumors.
Plus, many people, like me, won't even have a capable area to use Livewall. I'm in a corner of my basement with shelves on the walls around it.
