New and want to hack ps3
I have gone through a few threads but now I am completely lost.
I just want to be able to hack my ps3 to play burned games or something of the sort. What is my easiest option for a n00b? I am great with soldering and circuitboards. Is there a mod chip? Is there an easier way than buying the programmer and dongle just to downgrade the firmware, etc? How easy is multiman to set up? Thanks in advance all! |

That's something I was surprised about was the need for soldering and having to buy a programmer and dongle just to downgrade the firmware. My PS3 is one of the early Fat Black models - CECHGxx. As far as I understood, the older the model, the better for jailbreaking. The console I have is now 4.31 firmware, but that's only been upgraded via updates, it didn't require soldering or anything else to upgrade the firmware, so why are those necessary to downgrade it?

You will need to buy a Progskeet Flasher and a Jig Links in my signature for both.

I was planning on modding my ps3 slim which I bought December 2011, it is fully updated and still under warranty. But in that case I also have one of the first fat ps3's and I don't know what version it's running because of the YLOD. I am going to re-seat the chip with new thermal paste again and see if I can get it running. I'd rather hack that one if there's soldering involved.
Thanks for the reply, I look forward to learning more from this forum. |
