With the PS4 probably coming out next year, and certainly no later than 2014, we’ve been digging around looking for the inside scoop on what exactly you should expect. All of the following is based on publicly available information, rather than shady secret anonymous sources where you have to trust us because we’re games journalists (ha!). Sorry but this whole "Set the bar for the industry" thing is making me laugh a little bit. So they want to build something like direct x11 but the next MS console will have native Direct X11. Cool read and all but I will wait for a proper unveil before giving this console any praise. Sony has a lot to prove to me and a lot of other customers if they want our support and money.

Now this is going to sound like a fanboy comment but there is no doubt I will be picking up the new Xbox. Between Windows 8, Kinect, Smartglass I believe the new xbox is going to bring something special to the table

I don't want to see Sony fail. I dont think they can take anymore shots to their console department. A bad PS4, especially after the run they have had with PS3, could mark the end of them making consoles. I hope the learn by all the mistakes they made with PS3. To succeed they are going to need a good launch price point (not $600), a good launch line up of titles, and they need to stop removing features. If they can do these simple 3 things (which is not to much to ask IMO) then maybe, just maybe the PS4 will be as succesful as the PS2. I dont think thy should attempt the whole Linux thing again. It wasn't popular on PS2, and it pissed off an entire community when it was removed from the PS3. If they dont add it, then people will have no right to complain about a feature being stolen

as soon as I see AMD GPU I know for sure that im going to buy the new xbox instead of ps4. AMD has a big problem with heat and it will not take too much time before we gona have ylod or glod on the new ps4. amd is known for a cheap (and good too) manufacture so Sony will do the same thing as it has done with ps3, thinking only on profit and not what sony consoles represend to as end user gamers. for someone that want to play games xbox is the answer. im expecting xbox new features because when it cames to evolution on consoles xbox is #1. another reason is that i cant play any BETHESDA Softworks games on PS3 due to shared RAM that ps3 has. also VALVE has hired 3 Naughty DOG members who created uncharted, and valve doesnt release games for ps3. so im in sony just for Metal Gear.

I have a AMD CPU & CPU in my PC and they both run fine at exceptable heat levels. This is Sony not Microsoft, MS released a console knowing that is was prone to failure rates of 56%+%. Sony make quality consoles, MS make shody crap electronics.

What utter bollocks, if Sony thinks more of PROFIT than making QUALITY HARDWARE, then why did Sony pack in quality componets like cooling/heat sink(it was expensive and overkill) yet they included it and sold PS3 at a LOSS for years.

Clearly a deluded Xbox fanboy. PSN was Sonys first outting at a online network, things have improved over 6/7 years. PSN matches and even surpasses XLIVE in some area's. Best of all it's free Online Gaming.

Shared RAM has nothing to do with BETHESDA Softworks games on PS3(simply down to shody coding).

VALVE has hired 3 Naughty DOG members who created uncharted, and valve doesnt release games for ps3.

VALVE do release games for PS3, that is the reasoning behind Hiring ex Naughty Dog Coders(they know the PS3 inside out), Portal 2 got released on PS3(even patched for MOVE).

i got a xbox 360 only in 2011. owned only ps3 all my live. in there i spotted the difference between xbox360 and ps3. also im a bethesda fanboy. anyway i had a lot to do with amd products and know none of them function anymore. anyway we shall see, time will tell. example laptops with amd components are ****ty ones. i buy amd gpu because are chepp and offer great perfomance. but they do not have a long life comparing to nvidia.
xbox360 ram is 2times bigger than ps3. so, can you tell me a bethesda game that you can play without freezing in ps3? @marty370
portal 2 is game that you play when you dont have what to do.
i dont want to live with hope that if valve is going to release a game and to wait if it is on ps3 platform.

Are you serious 360 twice as much as PS3(LOL). They both have 512Mb.

Just cos the 360 share CPU & GPU ram doesn't mean u can pull another 250Mb out ya ARSE. With everything you have to balance use ar you would starve either the CPU or GPU.

PS3 can also share CPU & GPU RAM, just it does it differently as CPU needs everything chopping into smaller chunks. But like everything ther are limit to the ram that both the CPU & GPU can use from the other pools of ram(both PS3 & 360 have ram limitations).

Best solution PS3/PC best of both worlds.
