HOWTO update E3 Card Reader for FSM donlge: Code:
2) Insert your E3 card reader into your PC. Ensure there is no MicroSD card slotted inside it. After a few moments, you will see 2 new drives in "My Computer". One is a standard 3.97mb drive and another called "Upgrader" which is 126kb in size (The card reader won`t light up or anything). -In the E3 downgrade firmware folder you have downloaded (and unzipped) there is a file called "e3downgrade 12.03.bin" and we need to drag this bin file to the Upgrader drive. -IMPORTANT : When you drag it over, there will be a red LED that will flash for a second or two, then it will turn blue. Once it has turned blue, this confirms that we have just installed the downgrade firmware to the E3 card reader. If you do not see a blue light, you have done something wrong. Try again until you get the blue light. We can now remove the E3 card reader. 3) Now insert the card reader into your PS3 (Use the far right USB port as you look at the machine.) all credits to ps3crunch and user pikeytrog for the files/howto Last edited by haz367; 01-12-2013 at 09:19 AM. |

would just like to add on this tread.
i followed the guide to the letter and everything worked fine for me and would also like to thank everyone who put a little effort into this guide, its the easiest an most informative guide there is. everytime i have see someone relating to a brick on here its to do with user error not the guide! checking you dump is vital! trying to write to your flash without doing this first is daft! not installing your hardware flasher correctly is not a guide fault and is user error, you would have known this if you got a bad dump! before doing anything regarding my downgrade, i read both this guide over and over a few times and read the wiki, could find no difference at all just found this guide laid out better due to the amount of images provided in a nice step by step guide. so to conclude, if you have a brick... did you check everything and i mean everything? did you have someone else check everything for you (something that the guide suggests and some of the very clever users in this forum do to reduce bricks). have you then followed all the correct software steps after flashing? (even daft things like ensuring there is no disk in the drive when installing new firmware). come on people stop hating this guide and contribute to it and make it a little more clear, after all there are so many version of flashers and console models its impossible to have a guide that covers everything perfect, but its dam close!! |

Well i didnt even get to the fsm part and my PS3 is bricked. Probably not cause of the guide tho.
i made a valid dump and then when trying to downgrade i got the error; 1 0 0 0 1 1 1 1 Failed to write PS3 BIOS Check pads / clip at PS3 board check may not be properly seated. When i turned off PS3 and tryed to turn in back on, i hear 3 beeps sound and it red light keep flashing. I will have to solder the tristate. The clip is **** i will try to solder using E3 flasher instead. I had alot of problem with the clip, i should have made another backup and check if it was valid before downgrading even thought i had a valid one already. heh..that sucks already..and yes this is another thing with e3, ALWAYS make atleast a couple more dumps after the first(even if its VALID the first time) same here with one....redumping a second time after let's say 1 hour.....and the tape..whatever on it isn't pressing it enough(that's why u need foam/cartboard on top of e3clip!) it's slowly getting loose..then this happens = e3 coming loose on one end and result is brick if flashing OR bad backup after redump.... because of it.
make sure it's fitted..wich it was as u made valid dump but not good enough as u noticed..so reclip/tape it down and use some foam etc... to keep it pressed down! redump multiple times..compare the backups..all identical? then it's safe to proceed the downgrade. if u have valid original dump, now first u need to solder Tristate wire and MAKE sure the e3clip can't move while dump/restore/flashing leave it alone for now..take ur time..i know it sounds obvious but mistake is easy made like this goodluck on fix |
