it is necessary

BTW guys after trying at least 10 times. i have given up. blackscreen always at random times on cfw. and i had to re-flash, re-downgrade each time. not worth it. this is just my experience. it may still work for you

i still think your prob is solder joints. i think you have a cold joint on sbce.

where did you solder sbce to (the ribbon? or the alternate point on e3 itself?)

i dont solder it to the ribbon, i am trying to get it working right now, copying e3 onboard flash to ps3 flash right now. will let you know how it goes.

EDIT:

GOOD NEWS !!!!

everything went good, i am now dualbooting 4.31 OFW and 4.30 CFW Rogero v2.03

you will need to install multiman before you patch the e3 onboard nor otherwise you wont be able to install pkg's. in other words, app home ps3 game wouldnt switch to install pkg files after i flashed the onboard e3 NOR. so be sure you install the latest multiman..... 4.14 or later atleast.

i might write out a nice easy to understand tut in the future, but i am busy as hell right now. its easier than you think.

EDIT:
dec 15th Everything is still doing great. no black screen or anything.

I had trouble installing Rogero 4.30 v2.03 on my dual boot system even though I had dehashed and all.

So ended up installing it through FSM

I had no trouble with app_home/install pkg files in XMB
They are both there and it switched fine for me too install multiman.

I am just copying my files back from USB and then will test some more as I haven't loaded up my OFW 4.30 yet.

hi .... I have a problem with the procedure of fast dualboot on a DIA002 ... when I put the switch 01000000 CFW, a black screen appears on the screen instead I should have "connect the controller and so on." with no HD activity no red led only green led ...I have to turn off press and hold the button for 10 sec
when I put the switch 00000000 OFW I get the known writing on the screen.
I soldered all the cables I think pretty well and i have a valid dump 3.55.... how can I fix it? thanks

I think your posting in the wrong thread

what guide you following and what step exactly are you on? I am assuming the downgrade and putting PS3 into FSM

Did you read through Bailey's guide - http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=39766

Ok first off when talking switches its 1,2,3,4,5,6 up or down

When talking error codes its 01000000 (this error number is - Failed to initialize TF card SD card not seated properly )
a light on means 1
a light off means 0
there should also be an error code in the sd card

So when using the downgrade.bin
Switches are at
1 down / 2 down / 3 down / 4 down / 5 down / 6 up

After successfully writing the downgrade.bin turn off PS3

set the switches on the E3 as
1 down 2 up 3 down 4 down 5 down 6 down

Turn on PS3, when you see screen saying - Connect the controller with USB cable, then press the PS button - Don't do it. Shut off the PS3 off at the back and unplug for 15 seconds

Then use downgrade dongle to put PS3 in FSM

sounds to me like you have a bad solder connection on SBCE. either at point "A" on the diagram, or either on the ribbon. if i were you i would use the alternate SBCE point. here is a pic of what i mean...

if i were you i would desolder the SBCE point at the ribbon and solder it to the point in the diagram. that way you know your getting a good solder joint. you should also go back and check your solder connection on point "A" (SBCE). what it sounds like to me is you have a cold joint (bad solder joint)

just to recap...
if your using the sbce point on the ribbon itself this very well could be the problem. try using the alternate point for scbe and also check your other solder joints.

also, you did cut the trace in between point a and b right?

what firmware is the PS3 NOR at? not the e3 NOR, but the PS3 NOR....

see when you flip that switch (OFW/CFW) its taking the sbce trace and rerouting it. when you flip the CFW switch it send the sbce trace to the e3 NOR, when you flip it to OFW, it sends it to the ps3 NOR (which is actually pin 32 on the NOR chip)
