explanation of the Wii-U Super Smash Bros Brawl homebrew hack

A few days back we had the news about homebrew running on the Wii-U. One of them was about using Super Smash Bros Brawl to make the Wii-U run homebrew. Here is how it is done:
***Warning, this is all for your own risk. This might get you banned on the Wii-U network, might get your Wii-U marked for a ban or might in the worst case brick your Wii-U.Â* If you don’t know what you are doing with this information, wait for theÂ*tested and approvedÂ*hacks from the scene developers***
Now let’s start:
Here’s what you need :
1- Original Wii Mote (The new remote from Wii U won’t let you boot in Wii Mode)
2- The disk Super Smash Bros Brawl (We will use an exploit by Comex)
Here’s a video on how to use the exploit in Super Smash Bros Brawl. The only file that you don’t need in his turorial for our Wii U hack is the Miihack. We will use Wiixplorer as first booting software. Watch this video to have a good idea of the steps in the below :
Here’s the file that you need
1- Exploit for Super Smash Bros : http://wiibrew.org/w/images/4/4e/Smashstack.zip
2- Wiixplorer : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/46348978/wiixplorer.elf (http://code.google.com/p/wiixplorer/)
3- SNES Emulator : http://snes9x-gx.googlecode.com/file...GX%204.3.2.zip
4- NES Emulator : http://fceugc.googlecode.com/files/F...GX%203.3.2.zip
5- Roms of your choice (Zipped file for the SNES and .nes file for the NES emulator)
Here’s the steps :
1- Format a 1GB or 2GB SD card in FAT format (don’t use HCSD card, it won’t work)
2- Format a USB stick of your choice in FAT32 format
3- Boot up your Wii U and go in Wii Mode
4- Insert the Super Smash Brother CD
5- Start the game
6- Insert the SD card
7- Go to “Vault”
8- Select “Stage Builder”
9- Move one (anyone) of the default map to your SD card (just copy to the SD card using the menu, just refer to this video : How to Homebrew your Wii using Smash Stack - YouTube)
10- Always in the same window, go back to the Wii Template maps and delete all of them. There should be no Maps on the Wii Console memory and only one on your SD.
11- Exit the game (home button), you go back to the Wii Menu and your remove the SD card
12- Go to your computer and insert the SD card and access his content
13- Rename folder “private” for “privateold”
14- Copy the content of the zip file Exploit for Super Smash Bros to the root of your SD card (the “private” folder)
15- Create a folder called “app” at the root of the SD card, then sub folders call NES and SNES
16- Place the “apps” folders from your Emulator/homebrew under the proper folder
17- Insert your USB stick
18- Create a folder called “roms” and create sub folders called NES and SNES
19- Place roms of your choice in the proper folder
20- Remove your USB and SD card from your computer and go back to the Wii U
21- Start Super Smash Bros. (you can refer to the video turorial)
22- Insert the USB stick
23- Insert the SD card
24- Go to “Vault”
25- Go to “Stage Builder”
26- You should see the exploit at work and get in WiiExplorer
27- The content you are seeing is now the one from your SD card. Just jump to your “app” folder and the emulator folder you want to run
28- Select the file boot.dol of the proper emulator/homebrew you want to run
HĂ© VoilĂ*!

Nintendo are well aware of the importance of a homebrew scene, wii is practically finished and wii owners with softmodded consoles are much more likely to adopt the WiiU knowing they can pick up where they left off, Nintendo couldn't have patched the exploit? Of course they could have.

I'm excited to see how the wiiU hacks progress.

Hence the reason I mentioned that they could have patched it, but didn't, come on, using the same exploits that worked on their previous console?

They left that in there with good reason, to shift units.

Nintendo did patch the exploit that was used in the previous version of the HBC installer, the exploit used to run the new HBC installer is new and from tueidj iirc.

Oh ok, the article still refers to the smashstack method so I was assuming that they hadn't bothered.
