i thought you can leave everything soldered in as a one time trip.

some 1 give me a clear answer hare. my plan was to leave everything soldered on, downgrade the thing and leave the E3 Flasher in there permanently and leaving the PS3 HDD contented to the E3 SATA dock 4 ever (should i use the E3 SATA Dock or buy a better one?)
You can solder the linker and leave it in your PS3. When you use the linker, the nor tristate is soldered to the sbe on the linker. This will make the first switch be able to halt the nor flash, by putting it up. Then put the first switch down to use normally.
All you are doing when soldering the linker, is soldering all the wires that are inside the ribbon clip.

So to install the e3 flasher for permanent use, you should either use the ribbon clip and solder 2 wires.
Or use the e3 linker and solder all the wires.

So if you are using the solderless way, and just want to downgrade, but then you brick. As an alternative you can solder a wire from the nor tristate to a ground (vss) point on the mobo. This does the same as sbe to nor tristate, but you do not have a switch to go back to normal. So after flashing, you would need to remove that wire so your PS3 will use the nor to boot.

Also the esata station works good. I have never had a problem with it.

If you are wanting to learn more about the e3 flasher, you should read this.

well the deal to upgrade dongles may contain either bug fixes or improvements. but there is no need to upgrade as long it does what's programed 4 there is no need to upgrade it. - the only way you would need to upgrade it is 3.55 wasn't the Base for all hacks any more say 4.xxx became the new base then therefore an upgrade would be needed so it's compatible with the new type of injection system that if there will be ever a new way.

not sure about PSBreak though, never used 1 B4 so not sure.

there not a big deal they only participate in one small step of the processes so therefore there not as important.

O.o umm, calm down? I was just pointing out that there's less chance of error. That's what we go by in the irc.

OK thanks. I'm going with the E3 Linker. so i just leave it all soldered in there. so if 1st switch was on it would be like the same thing as using the ribbon the PS3 won't boot properly and they only way to make it boot is to DE-solder the wire. and with the E3 linker you can leave the wire in there because the switch controls the link right?

I've read the wiki quite a few times already makes sense just still bit worried when it comes to validating the Dumps I'll follow this guide and the wiki, try my best to make sense of it once i have a dump, but if not I'll post it up and say something i tried or something like that.
************* [ - Post Merged - ] *************
and 1 other thing how dangerous is the PS3 cover board say once i have it all done and I'm not at home and my lil sis decides to screw with the buttons could i end up in a PS3 brick if i turn it back on? and what is the default switch layout for normal PS3 use?

any built it child safety locks in there?

or you can only mess it up if you press the start button - but i won't have the SD card in the cover board though.

and is it possible to take the cover-board out and just have the ESATA cable connected to the HDD?

then i can just put on the old black PS3 Strip on and just make a hole through it for the cable to stick out

Great Job on the tutorial! Don't let those that like to hate well hate on you. Thant said i kinda noticed a lil typo at least from the part i looked over. Progskeet nand guide/ split the nand dumb back into two dumps/ top vs bottom error in text description but picture is correct. I reads "in the box under (select the NAND backup "Flash 1 (BOTTOM) file) select your origonal (dump 1 TOP.bin) file" the picture shows you selcect the bottom.bin but your text says otherwise. It might throw off some noobs, me being sorta kinda one of them. BTW if you know of anyone with a progskeet kit w/ 360 clips and all let me know thanks
