Hey Guys.

Brand new to the PS3 jailbreaking scene. I've been beating my head off the wall with this problem for days and i've searched and searched and found nothing but incomplete or non-solutions.

I have an older model 80gb PS3. I've successfully jailbroken and i'm on Rogero 4.30 v.2.03. SNES/NES emulation works. Everything else seems to be running great but I can't get any backups to run off the HD. The PS3 will take in physical media but acts as if nothing is in the drive.

Games show up fine in the Multiman (04.14.00) browser but when I try and run it's a quick black screen and back to the XMB. I've tried Heavy Rain, Mass Effect, Assassins Creed & Playstation All Stars Battle Royale.

I got the console for free and have no interest in purchasing a new drive. As it is it works as an overpriced Snes/Nes emulator and I have a second fully functional non-jb console. Just hoping theres something I can do to run games off the hard drive without having a working Blu-Ray drive.

i know battle royale doesnt work discless, some games i know work discless is wwe 13, the new hitman, lego batman 2 just to name a few

can i ask how you got Snes/NES to work? I,m on 4.30 cfw and just get black screen?

you do know it's normal to return to the xmb right? , if there's no disc icon shown you should start the game from "app/home" or whatever.

also there are methods now to run any game discless, there are tutorials here on the forum to do that.

You need to go to Rebug 4.21 and set it up for discless, no point in you being on Rogero and I don't think any of the games you mention work discless anyway, try what @Mr.Dutch recommended first as its normal to quit to XMB.

No blu ray drive detected by chance?

Use rebug 421 FW here is a small tut how to do it:
*you have to be on 3.55 kmeaw (only if you don't have your root key)
*you need multiman and dummy_bdemu http://www.sendspace.com/file/su16xu
*install this

*unplug any usb drive from ps3 and launch it
*now plug your usb drive & go to multiman-->hdd0-->tmp and copy eid_root_key to usb drive then to your pc and rename it to dump
*install REBUG 421 REX or REBUG 3.55.3 REX
*install rebug toolbox 2
*put an usb drive to the usb port close to bd-drive
*launch toolbox and go to cex dex and choose export flash to file
*when finished copy the created file to your pc
*download this http://www.logic-sunrise.com/forums/.../4942-cex2dex/ (to launch it download dll files needed put them in system32 folder)
and launch it as administrator select the two files you copied before and select cex2dex when finished save your file as DEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN if you have nor & DEX-FLASH.EID0.NANDBIN for nand
*copy this file to your usb and plug it in the port close to bd-drive
go to toolbox2 and launch it
go to CEX DEX and select rewrite target id in flash
*the ps3 restart then launch toolbox and go to selector and choose
system mode :rebug
xmb operation mode :debug
debug menu : debug
*restart ps3
*launch toolbox and go to CEX DEX and select SWAP LV2 KERNEL
*restart the ps3 .
*In XMB “Settings” go to “Debug Settings” and set “Blu-ray Disc Access” option to “BD Emulator (USB)” & restart ps3
*In XMB “Settings” go to “Debug Settings” and format your usb using format bdemu drive
*now put your usb drive in your pc and launch ps3 gen as administrator
* Click “Show” button in the top right-hand corner
* Click “Select File…” button
* Locate and select “PLAYSTATION3.iso” provided in this archive
* Click “Save / Emu …” button
* Select “Write Image to BD Emulator HDD”
* Select your BDEMU USB HDD
* Pick a slot from the list and click “Write Image”
* Connect the BDEMU USB HDD drive/stick to the right-most port (/dev_usb000) – the port closest to the BD-ROM drive
* Turn on your PS3
you are DONE

Hello mate, im currently on Rogero_4.30_v2.03 CFW. Im assuming i have to downgrade to 3.55 if so how would i go about doing that. Thanks in advance.

- Downgrading back to 3.55
- Download the Downgrader PUP ---> Downgrader PUP mirror ---> Downgrader PUP
Size 176MB (184,595,263 bytes) MD5: 49d80e07fc1f5ca1b0840e02e94635db
- Rename the downloaded file to "PS3UPDAT.PUP" and put it on your USB in: "USB\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP"
- While on Rogero CFW4.30, go to System Update from XMB and install the Downgrader PUP.
- After the Downgrader PUP installs you'll be on a hybrid CFW3.55 that will still shows ver4.21/4.30 from system settings.
- Enable QA flag by following these steps:

1- Download the Rebug QA_Toggle package from here ---> toggle_qa.pkg
2- Put the "toggle_qa.pkg" on USB and Install it on the PS3.
3- Run the "Rebug Toggle QA" from XMB, the screen will go Black and you will see HDD Led activity then if all went fine you will hear 2 or 3 Beeps and the PS3 will Restart back to XMB.
4- If you want to make sure QA flag was set, go to "Network Settings" then apply the following key combo (all at the same time):

L1 + L2 + L3 (press left stick) + R1 + R2 + dpad_down

You should see Edy Viewer, Debug Settings, and Install Package Files if done correctly.

- Now put "Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7" on your USB in: "USB\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP" ---> Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7.PUP
- Start the PS3 into Recovery Menu and install "Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7" (from Recovery Menu, this is important)
- Once you're back on Rogero CFW3.55 v3.7 Start the PS3 into Recovery Menu and install any CFW 3.55/4.21/4.30.
