possible to play without disks?

Hello everyone,

i have an old fat ps3 40 gb here with fw 3.41, and about 2 years ago i was already jailbreaking my ps3 with my ipod touch/ti calculator to run homebrew.

But the problem is that short after my disk reader broke, and if i wanted to play a game from my harddrive the ps3 first had to think there was a game in the ps3, so it was game over for me.

And now 2 years later, i wonder if it is possible nowadays to play games without having to buy a new laser for my ps3?.

and should i upgrade my 3,41 to the newest firmware? back in the days that would be a bad idea, but now?

thanks.

you are probably dutch.

do you have a game in the drive?, because if not then the ps3 should not think and start the game from your harddrive right away...

you need to know if your logic board is still working or if it's just a bad laser issue.

Many games work without disc inside, even on 3.41 but 3.41 is old news just like you said. These days people are on 3.55, 4.21 or even 4.30 CFW's.

Most games are playable on 3.55 and you need to be on 3.55 to upgrade to the later CFW's (4.21, 4.30)

I'd say update to 3.55 OFW via XMB, then install a CFW of your choice and enjoy many games discless without the need of jailbreaking on every boot.

first go to 3.55OFW then to 3.55 kmeaw.

there are ways to play every game discless, if you choose to stay on kmeaw you have to deal with some games that just won't work.
