I believe they tie the consolieID with the serial number in back of the ps3. If someone can't connect because he's either banned it or it's in use. Sony can track this down and in the end the only person that's screwed is the one who wanted to use a random ID.

All the person needs to do is phone Sony.

Customer: Hello, I seem to have trouble logging in on your network with my console, it gives me an error.

Rep: Ok, may I have the model and serial number please.

Rep: hmm...yes I see a problem...Let me get my supervisor.

Rep: There seems to be a problem with the network at the moment , we'll fix this within a day or two.

(meanwhile the other dude who stole the consoleID is in serious crap and the person who bought his ps3 gets his IDPS back)

and still comes down to the other person's aggravation which he didn't even know and have to be dragged in to his own dirt that he created. In other words, why will you f*** somebody else if you f*** your own self?

I'm not disagreeing with you, this is going to hurt Sony in the end. I wouldn't blame them if they had enough of it and decided to send a ninja update that has a killswitch. I honestly wouldn't blame them...I would do the same if I were in their shoes.

Totally agree with you. I really hope they implement a kill switch at some point. But chances are there won't be one as the Orbis or what ever it will be called is not far from the future.

Personally I think that this should have been implemented after the first CFW if they wanted to protect PSN for OFW users alone.

I guess some people just will never learn its like a game of trust on there part and if people abuse it then they will be punished. For example.

Sony: here you may use PSN for free and play your games you bought online for free without a subscription and always enjoy it. We only ask that no mods or hacks are to be made to cheat online capabilities and not to pirate software.

OFW User: yeah I am good with that I work so I can pay for my games and enjoy them and also push myself to get better at it and not cheat. It's only a game after all.

CFW user: Sony you dumb ****s giving me free online I think I will mod this and back that oh and why not pirate this PSN game it won't matter because I won't get caught. Wait I just banned. Oh well now I will use someone else's PSID to get back online and let them get screwed over.

Now while the CFW does not count for a minority there is a large group that would probably fit in there so please don't think I am accusing everyone who has CFW I myself have it but it has never been online and is staying on 3.55. Mainly use it for showtime and to mess around with emulators and what not.

But anyways back on track if people do something wrong they get punished. End of and personally I think it should have been dealt with a long time ago. If people don't like it then they should not do it end of.

Why should people who stick to rules and follow updates and what not have to put up with a couple of idiots that ruin things for them. Why would you want to risk it?

If you want to test your luck go ahead and see what happens but like I said earlier there is no sympathy and certainly don't come crying to people about it.

A word of warning to those lucky enough to get back online.

STAY OFFLINE ALL TOGETHER YOU WILL ONLY GET BANNED AGAIN YOU MUST HAVE HEARD THE SAYING FOOL ME ONCE SHAME ON YOU FOOL ME TWICE SHAME ON ME. I THINK SONY WOULD AND SHOULD SAY THAT TO EVERYONE CFW OR NOT.

and this ladies and gentlemen concludes another of Gazra's points of view stay tuned for the next exciting episode.

Nice post!

There is another matter that raises a question or two. The ones who go on cfw online and have yet to be banned. The answer to this is pretty easy, you're in a position not to be making noise, if you make noise you're caught.

We all know COD games are a no-no for cfw and psn. A few on here claim to have gotten banned from playing any other game. The reason? One too many, in fact I'm willing to bet, the ones who got banned were the ones that either trash talked or some sort of stupidity to get themselves in trouble.

SO now you're reported and guess what? They've now noticed you were flagged for unauthorized or pirated software. Your temp ban now became a permanent one and a nice email telling you why.

If you respect the network, you "MAY" get a pass even on cfw, but do something stupid and you will be biting off more than you can chew.

The other idiodic reason is loading on online game through a backup manager...congratulations you might as well wear a shiny red hat and call yourself captain Jack

Let's see...backup managers are mods to begin with, I see a few claiming they didn't cheat or use mods....really?

Mods are things that do things that originally are not intended to do.

Multiman is a tool on the ps3 that's sole purpose is to do things the ps3 normally couldn't.

There're your reasons why a few on cfw still have psn access even before the LV0 leak and why others can't seem to shake off the first week.

I know i'm coming off as harsh and I'm not painting everyone with the same brush, just food for thought.

Looks like we have very valid points in this case. And some very interesting questions being asked and points being made.

I guess when more than one person has very similar points on a subject like this there is truth in it.

You have a very good understanding in both sides and I would just like to say I agree with you in this matter 100% if not more.

The funny thing is a point you mentioned as well in regards to backup managers playing games online this is a massive giveaway.

I can't remember who posted something like this but there may be stealth version of multi an but didn't raptr point out people where still using multiman not long ago I think it might have been @GregoryRasputin tbh.

Like i am trying to say if some application that is nothing to do with Sony in the first place can pick this up then I am sure Sony can and this is where bans come into play.

Might as well be a giraffe in a field of zebras and spot the difference.

It's hard just to try an explain that this is not everyone who has CFW or anything like that just the people who do stupid things with it.

I think we may sound as if we are coming off really harsh when in fact we are stating the obvious that people seem to miss or wonder why things happen to them.

Anyways I think I am going to stop posting now as we have taken this thread completely off the OP so sorry guys for that and please continue your discussion I will refrain from posting anything else unless I feel I need to.

Also thanks for the comments @Theeze it's nice to see someone else who has similar outlooks on such things.

Exactly. What my point here is just common sense that some people don't have. Cardinal rule is if you are on CFW DO NOT GO ONLINE simple but hard to follow and also if you F*** your self getting banned, do not drag innocent users with you by using their own IDs. How would you feel if somebody stole your identity?

Totally agree with you on that part the more people that use tools to change there ids the more innocent people that get affected.

It's not fair to have spent hundreds if not more on a console to have someone who is going to abuse what there's and then steal someone else's id getting them banned where is the moral in that?

So I agree as well if you **** your self up don't think it's fair to steal another persons id just think about that before using anything.

All ids that you change yours to belong to other people.

Put simply, it's not the easiest to steal a PSID from someone?

it's that easy, this is a quote from 57413k the person who started this thread asking for help how to un-ban his PS3...

Just to be clear, this all worked using random numbers, I do have a spare PS3 that I could've and wanted to clone, but since using random numbers worked for me, I felt no need to clone it just yet

I did notice that PSIDPatch is not permanent and needs to be re-run every time you boot the ps3, does anyone one know a permanent patch to change the ConsoleID?
