I've never modded a ps3 in anyway. I've only softmodded my Wii. I had it setup with a us loader and downloaded games onto an external hard drive and loaded them that way via USB. Is this possible with ps3 in a way that still allows me to access the PlayStation network?

I have kind of a related question. I also have a wii that is modded with wii flow,

I use a 2tb western digital essential to store my backups, I have more than 1 tb of free space.
Here is the question would I be able to use my free disk space to back up ps3 games and keep my wii games? (share a hard drive between the 2 consoles)
Also 4.31 is hackable isn't it? I a bit confused.

jaupro if your ps3 is hackable (on 3.55) you can install newest rogero and play games from a hdd & online yes

noobist , interesting i think it will work just plugging your usb hdd between systems,to my knowledge 4.31 is hackable or downgradable mine was on 4.31 before sending it for downgrade or buy yourself a e3flasher

If you don't know how to help and give correct info then don't bother. U have just gave him wrong information

1 u told him to get a e3 flasher, so what happens if he listened to you and brought one and his ps3 is a nand ps3

2 what if his ps3 is a can't be downgrade e.g. 3000 , 4000 Model or 3.56+ Factory fw.

U need to find out his ps3 model etc before u tell him what to do etc!!

second guy asked can he swap a hdd ? i said "probably" and is 4.31 hackable to which i replied "YES as mine was on that very same" (am i wrong) "NO I AM NOT" and with the information given and only being at ps3's for 3 weeks i (personally) think i did pretty fekin well and is that a tick or a strike ?


anyway you are correct i probably need more knowledge before i think i can help here as im still reading my self, as i said just tryin to help

@jaupro If you don't state your PS3 model, hard to tell.
But in case that you have a 3K series or even a 4K if that's the model of your PS3 don't bother on buying a flasher you can't do anything with that.

So no homebrew, backups for your PS3.

Not to sound dumb but where would I find the model? All I see on the back is the serial.

The model number will be mentioned in a format such as this CECH -XXXX etc at the underside of the console.

Additionally this information can also be found on the box (just to the right of contents, directly under the 320gb/250gb/160gb version etc)

It can also be found at the side of the box (usually next to the color of ps3 such as charcoal black).
