Oh just a fair warining in case you didn't know. If you manage to downgrade with fsm it will format the drive.

It sounds like your HDD is bad. I had the same error when trying to use a bad HDD.

Another thing it might be is the usb flash drive u are using. Try and format you flash drive again to fat32 with the quick box UNCHECKED. Or try a different flash drive.

You can use fsm tool app to get into fsm and install a firmware, but I would install a no check cfw, like Rogero v3.7, not ofw 3.55.
But I have a feeling that may fail also, if the problem is your HDD or flash drive.

Maybe try formatting the HDD on a pc, then put it back in the ps3 and let it format it again and install the downgrader pup again when it asks.

If you qa flag was toggled on while you were on Kmeaw, and u never toggled it off, it is still on. Qa flag is not store on the HDD or the flash.

I hope my options help u fix the issue.

Fsm wont see 3.55 ofw but its showing rogero 3.55 v3.7 so ima try that. Well it red screened on me so ima try kmeaw 3.55 n see what happens.

What do u mean fsm won't see ofw 3.55? Post the log file from the factory/service mode install attempt, that is on the flash drive. You do mean fsm and not the recovery menu, right?

Yes fsm. Had the red box and all. It said to applicable data for ofw 3.55 but shows all the other cfws. Ive tried another hdd but its asking for fw 4.40 or later n wont see any cfw or ofw.

It is suppose to say 4.40 or later. Ignore it and install Rogero v3.7.

You cannot install firmware from xmb in fsm. You need to put the correct lv2diag.self and PS3UPDAT.PUP on the root of your fat32 flash drive, by themselves. Then power on the ps3 while in fsm, with the usb in the right most usb port.

All the updates start at 18%. I tired a different hdd but no go. Its telling me the same thing it is now.
