You can pull your scientific links out all day but I smoked everyday for 16 yrs (3gm a day at my worst, .5gm a day at best)
Since Ive stopped smoking my short term memory has improved 10fold and my clumsiness and dopey decision making has also improved noticeably.

Obviously like drinking, if done in moderation it will have little to no effect but done regularly or excessively it will most certainly have ill effects.
I will say that none of the effects I felt have carried on once the THC left my system.. it just got to a stage for me where my brain felt clouded 24/7.

I needed to be a better father for my boys and I most certainly am since stopping!
It causes euphoria. Of course it's going to cloud your memory and inhibit your ability to make good decisions while in usage. I'm not claiming that it makes you sober. I'm just saying a lot of the negative stigma that has been placed on it was mostly propagandized and just flat out false in some cases.

It's a choice. It doesn't define a person. Although, I must admit you're decision to quit is very admirable and respectable. If I had children to raise I think clean and sober is obviously the best way.

Not just whilst in use though.. for a good 10 days until the THC had totally left my system I would feel that way. To be honest it took a good couple months before my short term memory started returning to what it was previously.
It wasnt right from when I first started smoking.. this took a good 12yrs to start to happen.
I wholeheartedly agree about the negative stigma though.. On the whole I think its great and I SORELY miss it..
If I wasnt an all or nothing kind of guy with sweet Mary I would be whacked right now that my children are in bed asleep

I always wonder how many straightedge folks are caffeine drinkers.
"I just need my morning coffee"
That sounds kind of familiar..

life will kill you if nothing else does

everyone has vices. dont be ignorant, dont be arrogant and dont be self obsessed. they seem to be your vices after all

sort those out THEN tell other people how to live their lives

certain levels of alcohol are "good" for you
no drugs = no medication

do you want to live life with no coffee/caffeinated sodas, having do deal with possible surgery/dental work with no painkillers/anasthesia.
if you are prescribed meds for mental problems would you suggest that people dont take them?

what you should have said is not to "abuse" them to the point of being detrimental to your life and those around you
if you are in full control then there is no harm in enjoying chemicals or are you comparing anyone who enjoys a little chemical enhancement to smackheads or crack addicts?

@GraVoX959 im quite the opposite lol. since i stopped smoking weed my memory has worsened and i feel clouded and lethargic lol. when i smoked i was more active both mentally and physically

Do not smoke. Do not drink. Do not do drugs.

Thanks.
@Annelies You really should get a life, instead of being 18 hours straight in front of a computer doing nothing...
Now, you can flame all you want.
Besides, everyone is free to do what he or she wants.
Also, how is tobacco not a drug?
Have you ever drink tea or coffee in your life?
Have you ever taken a pill to low down an ache you had?
If yes, then you have done drugs.
Just my 2 cents.

Dude seriously, these posts of yours are starting to p*ss me the f*ck off, you are 20 years old, you are a mummy's boy and you still live at home, you have never experienced a real relationship, you have never experienced living on your own, you have never actually lived:
SO HOW THE F*CK CAN YOU SIT THEIR BEHIND YOUR COMPUTER SCREEN DICTATING WHAT SHOULD MAKE THE REST OF US HAPPIER AND LIVE LONGER.

The more you post the dumber you become, its like you ARE taking heavy drugs, because no one could be that dumb and retarded by taking nothing.

Unless this is you attention seeking, wouldn't be the first time.

There is a huge difference between encouraging and dictating, your title dictates to people that the have to stop, you or no one has the right to tell anyone to stop doing what the want with their own body.

MANY MANY people have done hard drugs and lived amazing f*cking lives, take rock stars for example, the Rolling Stones they had sh*t loads of fun, f*ckied the sexiest women, did the most hardcore of drugs and are still alive.

We have people like @GraVoX959 who is twice the age of you, he is still alive, he has done drugs and alcohol and i can guarantee you that he will say at least 90% of his life soi far has been a happy experience.

There are many other members in a similar position,

So instead of sitting here preaching at us like a little spoiled mummy's boy, get the f*ck out of your house, go live your life properly and then come back in 20/30 years when you have actually done something exciting and preach to us.

I don't mean to sound like an a**hole here, but this is simple truth...

YOU Annelies would not like someone telling you not to use computers
YOU Annelies would not like someone telling you what is right and wrong.

So don't tell others what they can or cannot do.

I drink rum, responsibly however, but still, I'll stop drinking Rum, the day you stop using all electronic devices, is that a fair deal?

Electronic devices can be bad for your health, and life aswell, you could end up wasting valueable years of your life sitting in front of a computer instead of living your life.. You're probably thinking "don't care about that". But me telling you not to use computers is just like you telling everyone else what to and not to do.

I believe in freedom however, in the sense, I believe everyone is entitled to do as they please, without me judging them, sure some things I may not agree with, but I will not tell them not to do it however. It's their life, their body, and their money. So that's up to them...

Only time you should be telling someone what to or not to do is when that person is spending your money to do it.

Sorry, sad but true.

But the thing is, smoking is just plain dumb. You got to be stupid to smoke. People are allowed to do what they want. So I'm not going to say stop. If you want to smoke. Be an idiot and suck on that smoke. Drinking will cause health problems but if you drink responsible then you should be okay. I never drink or smoke. I don't drink coffee as that's useless. By the way. This is just my point of view. We all have our own.

Gravox is a springchicken and should stay of my lawn

But seriously, i dont see the point eating healthy, stop drinking etc just to grow old and being stuck in an old age home by your kids. Live hard, die at a healthy 70 or so when you still dont need a nurse when you need to take a dump.

I dont smoke myself, but I dont have a problem with smokers. I cant imagine a bar without the cloud of smoke in it, wouldnt be the same. I make up for the non smoking with booze. And booze and smoke are not the only factors, fatty food can take you to the undertaker much faster than these mentioned items. However, you wont see me order a salad at a steakhouse. The excess oil on food just makes it good.
