There's nothing wrong with it or your suggestion. Now I have a suggestion for you, if you feel so strongly about it then get involved proactively with it. The best place to start is with youth before they start. When I was in high school I was a member of Hi-Step. I don't know if they have that in Cali but we used to go to grade schools and speak to them about the dangers of drugs. I'd say doing it someplace like this would make you preaching to the wrong choir because for most of us it's too late. I wasn't bothered at all by this thread. I find it enlightening to listen to people's life experiences through usage. I can relate with @japsander all too well. I've had an unbelievable life, I think. Most people probably wouldn't believe it if I told them. But the point is that all my experiences brought me to the here and now and I wouldn't change it for the world. And like @GraVoX959 stated, I too once quit smoking for the sake of my child. That was from when my daughter was born in 2004 until I lost her in 2008. The ironic part is that I lost her because her mother didn't want to stop. When I got my tumor in my head I would have thought it more likely to come from my past habits rather than the probable cell phone usage that the doctors likened it to. Now I have a clean bill of health, a lovely wife, am moving to a new country, and will be starting a career rather than slumming it at jobs for people who are only half as intelligent as I am. I've seen enough bad to know when life is good and right now it's good. I know with the way life works it could only be temporary so I'm enjoying it like it might end tomorrow. I'm happy in my life and I smoke. I'm not using it to drown my sorrows or as a crutch. There are times I prefer not to and there are times that I have to be responsible and I can't. I think the point is that each of us have to live our own lives and have our own experiences to get our own meanings out of life. I'm not exactly an old sage but I'm certainly wise beyond my years and if you asked me I'd say that's what life is all about. I think it's sad when the closest thing somebody feels like they have when their down is a bottle of alcohol. At the same time I feel like there are people who most definitely can handle their alcohol and I don't have any business telling them to stop. Jesus made wine from water not for people to be drunken fools but so they could be merry. I don't see any harm in that. I don't see any harm in never using anything either. If that's the path you choose to take, I hope you never have a reason to ever have to resort to it. I just hope you're not doing it because CM Punk tells everybody that's what he does.

Thank you for this constructive post. Other users take note.

I think I've always been straight edge deep down inside. When I did smoke and/or drink, I felt like I was forcing myself to do it and never truly enjoyed it. I honestly think it's very stupid and I hate to see my peers fall victim to it. I still don't see the appeal behind marijuana. Or behind getting drunk. Or behind doing crack cocaine. It's stupid. When I get married and have children, I will never allow any of those things into my household. Period. Why would you not want to be sober? That's another time for another place, though.

Now, I do admire CM Punk and it's mainly because of him that I even know what straight edge is. I didn't even know there was a name for my lifestyle before CM Punk came out and made it publicly known. So I would be lying if I said he did not have a role in any of this. However, I have always despised drugs, smokes and booze before I even knew who Mr. Punk was.

I should probably do as you've said and preach to the youth. It's a great idea. I'll remind my little brother and other children I come across that it's a horrible thing to do drugs, drink and smoke.

I am glad that one person, like yourself, was able to make a fine, well mannered response to my thread.

Well maybe you should go into schools and talk to young children about Te dangers of drugs and smoking . On here isn't really the right place , or right people to be preaching to an it is preaching in my eyes , if someone wants to give up smoking then it's up to them . I want to quit smoking but I will do it at my own speed , in my own time and in my own clothes . you should concentrate on your writing write an article about it or something and send it to a college or school magazine not post on ps3 forum it will just fall on deaf ears on here you probley knew that to start with .
