I don't think there has ever been a thread solely about race on this website. But I agree. People aren't ready for civilized debates about God. Neither are they ready for somebody to suggest an alternative lifestyle.

THAT'S why you get the responses you see in this thread. you went from advising to telling people what to do

the first quote still begs for responses and peoples reasoning as you said yourself you don't see how people can/would/could. these responses would have likely been different

the second quote gets what you see in this thread, people responding to your order

being a writer you should know how to correctly create your whole post to convey a message. yours however carries 2 messages

now onto my views on the first quote:

people turn to drink/drugs for many reasons and in many cases, it does help. in others it does not.
even the healthy die young. it is not a fact that they will kill you but it is a fact that they can as with anything in this life.

many reformed users/alcoholics are better people than they were before addiction and in turn help the lives of others in the same situations they were in before they became users/alcoholics.

if you know the signs and triggers you are better equipped to notice them in other people.

people like yourself who have a life of luxury by comparison with hardships that pale in comparison cannot begin to comprehend the benefits that escapism can bring.

it is very easy for the privileged to preach but try getting your ass down and live on the streets for a while then preach.

if you have nothing, you have nothing to lose and you take all the enjoyment you can get.

whilst high, you may make some of the most profound discoveries about yourself and the biggest decisions that lead you to a better life than you previously thought possible

i speak from experience and can honestly say that my life and those around me benefit from my past drug/alcohol usage. i would not be who i am without them. everything good i have/have done comes from what i have done for better or worse.

i cannot condone substance "abuse" but i am not ignorant to their "uses" either

there are many things that ruin health/lives due to addiction:
gaming can be addictive to the point of destroying a family/causing health problems/even death
caffeine is a drug and is bad for you and also highly addictive (i am caffeine sensitive and it can make me anxious/bad tempered/breathing problems/palputations) but i wont tell everyone not to drink coffee
sex addiction is also bad for you (go figure...)
healthy living addiction is also a killer (people dieting/exercising too much)
farmville ruins the lives of everyone on the users facebook friends list and the timeline suffers too

So myself, I once in my life had 2-3 fags but it wasn't as good or anything as others see it, to relieve from stress. I don't smoke any more, it was an odd experience.

I do try alcohol but it's rarely, and if it is, only light stuff. Coconut liquor is delicious so I can't deny it.

I was suspended at school for getting drunk numerous times in school grounds when I was 14, same thing happened when I was doing weed at 15 and simultaneously had a couple of cigarettes in that time but after 16 I haven't done anything. Here and there I will smoke shisha but in a social sense, same with rarely having alcohol like Baileys at Xmas time with family.

It's weird, I think I just got it all out early in my teens and simply got bored of it.

The straight edge lifestyle has my respect as does @Annelies but each to their own.

hope you get the point im trying to make, u only live once just enjoy it ffs and stop worrying about ****.
you never know what happends to you so why not just enjoy the things the world has to offer like Beer, Vodka, weed ect
