So here's the thing guys... you keep talking about people not needing to have guns to protect themselves. Tell ya what, I'll come to your place with a pistol and you can come at me with a mace or baseball bat and see who wins. The idea of getting rid of guns is great, so is making rape illegal... wait, it is and still happens. You can't tell criminals to get rid of their guns, I mean you can but it will have no effect. Unless someone comes up with a time machine and heads back to the 1700s when the first blunderbuss was being made and says "hey man, you shouldn't do that..." there will always be guns.

To me anti-piracy laws are an example of law thats put in place to deter me from sharing/downloading copyrighted works... It hasnt worked but i do realize what im doing is illegal and it is what it is and im willing to go to jail for it but i don't think im doing anything "wrong". However, I can guarantee you that people who break the law are in the minority vs people who are law abiding.....

I am wondering why the mother had 3 AUTOMATIC weapons. I do not like guns, but yes, I understand it is part of the constitution and regulating gun control probably will not do much.

I believe only the mother and that psychopath were the only 2 to live in that house, since the brother was in NJ and the father lived somewhere else.

If the mother only had 1 pistol (just to protect herself) maybe there would only be 5 victims, TOPS. But why does a house that only have 2 people in it need 3 automatic weapons?

Definitely overkill and irresponsible of the mother to have those guns laying around like that. No words for that psychopath. I think the gun owners themselves need to regulate the guns they have in their possession.

This is like if I have a son that gets drunk, and I leave bottles of Grey Goose and other liquors on top of the table with my car keys as well.

I think you are confusing automatic with semi-automatic. Automatic is when you hold the trigger and it continually fires, semi-auto is when you pull the trigger and it recoils and injects another round into the chamber and is ready to be fired again. I have many guns and all registered to me and locked in my safe. I grew up on a farm and did a lot of hunting with my dad and grandpa, some of the best memories I have is spending time with them doing that. My friends and I regularly get together and shoot... Its a great time. You can't take the rights away from law abiding citizens just because of a few crazy people. I do agree however that people need to be more safe in how they store their firearms and I think there should be a psychiatric evaluation before they can purchase any sort of weaponry. Though I also think the same thing of anyone who can vote or drive a car.

By default it would be the person who has the pistol/gun in their possession but also take into consideration the time of response and distance between the two. Overall, pistol over bat, as I see it.

i'll point out the obvious guns don't kill people, people do. the gun don't shoot itself. i've been around firearms sence i was a little kid, and i was taught by my dad the right way to him to handle them. the same way they teach you firearms classes. personally i think there should be stricter gun laws. i don't think banning them is the way to go but besides the criminal back ground check they should do a psychological check also. but i know that isn't going to stop some1 messed up in the head like that guy from killing a class full of kids, id just be more gruesome another way.

From what ive read the gunman had no criminal record..... I do know for certain that in the Colorado shootings the gunman had no criminal record.

Having armed marshals on a pressurized airplane can be more of a danger... just saying
