Guns have plenty of good uses, not just killing someone. Normal people use them to hunt and feed their family. Others use them to defend themselves against sicko f*ckers like the one yesterday. If 1 or 2 of the people in that school had been carrying a gun on them, then they could have blasted him in the face, which I would have to assume would be a pretty incapacitating blow. Punishing the normal sane people by not allowing them to have guns if they choose hardly seems right. That is why we have all these messed up laws to begin with. If some numbnuts decides to do something horrible or wrong, punish him. But to say no person should be aloud to have gun because one a**hole did something bad with one seems....well moronic. Now, I'm fully aware that there have been an astronomical number of dipsh*ts that misuse a gun and not just this guy. So if tomorrow, 10 people are killed by a chainsaw....do we ban chainsaws in households? If someone wants to do something bad, they are going to do it. Look at prisons. They don't have weapons accessible to them, so they just fool up t.p and wet and let it dry to make a shiv, or break of a toothbrush or something. Where there is a will.... . I'm not trying to be unsensative or anyng, I feel horrible about what happened, truely horrific situation there. I just can't help to think this kind of thing happens often in other countries and no one seems to be so up roared about it until it happens in their backyard. People kill people. Young, old, black, white, girl, boy. We should ban the people, not their choice of weapon.

I don't think we could have done something again this. We aren't capable of locking all autists up. It's not only the gun side that matters. It's also what plays on in people's heads.

I agree, but you cannot ban people. This kind of thing will never stop but we can do more to keep it from being so common. We can lower the numbers by taking steps to not ban people but by helping them.
#1) Guns will never go away, there is to much money in the bussiness. Governments build weapons and sell them to other countries to start wars so that they get richer.
#2) criminals will always find a way to get guns. But it is not your normal run of the mill criminal that are doing these mass shootings. It is people that for some reason snap.

So knowing these two things we need to be able to catch warning signs sooner and help the people that snap deal with whatever it is they are dealing with. Look at me for example. I consider myself a good and decent person. Normally wouldn't hurt anybody. But if you take away from me the one thing i love and have been fighting to keep in my life, look at what i was prepared to do. There are things in the system that need to be fixed. The United states system is so corrupt and convoluted that I honestly only see things getting worse here. One branch of govt doesn't care about the other branches. Everybody has become selfish and only cares about themselves. period

We should ban guns. We can never stop people from acquiring firearms but we can at least keep it to a minimum. I have never felt the need to own a gun.

Actually a gun's primary function is to kill... what i have been saying is that if you take that out of the equation for a mass murderer you would make it harder for them to commit violent acts. A chainsaw's primary function is to cut down trees... (in numerous ways)Yes you can kill anybody with anything and no we shouldn't stop producing everything because anything can become a potential weapon in the wrong hands but by taking away the tools which seem to facilitate acts such as yesterday's occurrence we can hope to reduce the # of gun violent incidents. I base my logic on the fact that guns are made to kill. You don't have to hunt with a gun..... Then again i don't believe you should be hunting animals for sport anyway (im not saying you shouldn't eat them for subsistience though).

I agree that its a big business and thats primarily the reason why people won't stop manufacturing either guns or ammunition but thats no excuse for not coming together and trying to stop future tragedies from happening. People like to say that if everyone was armed some1 would step up to the plate to try to shoot the wacko whos gone mad well a well thought out ambush would nullify any attempts for people to defend themselves + imagine if some1 was successful in massacring an NRA rally (god forbid) he/she would just have more access to the victim's guns in that case.

You can put people in prison for life which is the same as banning them. Banning them from society. Or you can impose the dea penalty on them, which is banning them from life. What we can't do is try to prevent this stuff from happening, but how? That's the hard part. Simply getting rid of guns or other weapons won't do the trick, cause some crazy person can still bash a bus load of kids head in with a rock. Bottom line is, this world is a really bad place. Evil lurks around every corner. More often than not, crazies show no signs to the public eye of being crazy. Look at all the pediphiles out there. They are more often than not someone you would have never guessed. All you can do in this world is keep an eye out for fishy things, and protect you and yours as best you can. I stand by what I was saying above, and I can also see what you are saying aswell. Crazy world we live in here. Nice to discuss these issues either way.

Like you said, you can never stop them from getting a gun. You have never felt the need, because you have never been in that situation. You would definetly feel the need if some crazy was harming you or your family and you needed to stop them. Im guessing you don't have a wife and kids? If you did, just seeing crazy stuff like this happen, and the simple fact of wanting to keep your family safe......I assure you that you would feel the need.

Same as above. Bad people will always be around. No stopping that. If some crazy person breaks in my house and tries to rape and kill my family, this hand gun I got here has got an excellent purpose. Yes, it is to kill, but it is also a necessity or else I get to watch my wife get raped and my kid get slaughtered. Then what will I say? @crazelunatic I understand my statement was rash, but think about it. So we get rid of all guns because there primary use is for killing someone. Now some crazy doesn't have that to help him slaughter a ton of people. So he just goes around with this chainsaw which is primarily for cutting trees. If some guy came at you with a chainsaw, and you had no gun, what would you do? Punch him to death? Maybe try to get close enough to stab him? Or hope someone calls the police because they are the only person aloud to have guns now that we banned them? Don't know about where you live, but in my area....by the time the cops got there, you could fill a trash dumpster with body parts from the chainsaw crazed man. Sorry, I don't trust none but me to protect my family

I'm not going to debate this. I'm not even going to read this thread because of the incredible amount of ignorance that I read in the last thread. But I'll tell you that it'll never happen. Americans will never let it happen. Another big reason is something called the "NRA". Those of you that aren't from American and don't know about the "NRA" should google it. Taking guns from Americans would essentially start a civil war. And there are enough guns in America to do it.

The whole point of this thread is to debate, its here for you to voice your opinion and state exactly what you feel.

Also being pro-gun or anti-gun does not make you ignorant, whatever side you choose, that is your opinion.

Im also really glad that people were able to discuss this matter in a mature manner, it makes me happy to know that we all may clown around and have fun or fight with each other, but when something serious is on the tables, we can all discuss it like adults
