@oakhead69 : You can use rap2rif to create valid RIF files from a RAP file.. So there's no need for ReactPSN at this stage, the rif files are generated on your PC.

And yes, this requires a valid ACT.DAT and IDPS to reactivate them. But, they can be any act/idps files you want to activate them against.
That is what you use rap2rip for. I have tried this in the past and I have not had any success, even with valid act.dat and IDPS files.

This thread is discussing rif2rap. So based on what you have said the main purpose of rif2rap is so that people with purchased content can share it with the community .

I had a similar problem before, but you need a fully activated act.dat for this to work. It works best when you grab the act.dat of a new (dummy) account that you create on your CFW system, and downloaded a free game/demo with.

You can't use an account that you have content on, which is shared on ps3's.
Also you can't put back the act.dat (let's say we ftp a copy out) after deactivating the PS3/account. Sony will delete it from your system when you sign in with it..

In my case i was referring to rap2rif, with a PS3 cfw that act.dat was created by connecting to PSN using an original account that signed in. This account was already active on two PS3's. It didn't get all the data from Sony, so it could not be used. I created an extra dummy account and signed in with it, bought a free add-on, then it was good to go. (with idps, rap2rif, etc.)

I had no act.dat on my ps3 well not one that was from PSN, I had the act.dat that was created with reactPSN which i had backed up mistaking it for an original act.dat, when opened in a HEX editor it just showed all 11111`s, A PSN act.dat in a HEX editor is encrypted and is full of multi characters and numbers.
In my situation I had upgraded my firmware, reactPSN stopped working because it wasnt compatible with new firmware. so i foolishly deleted my `aa` account and all reactPSN data.
ReactPSN came out which was compatible with my firmware (Rogero 4.30 .v203) so i go looking for my act.dat in hdd0\game\exdata its not there,
I had another PS3 on OFW so i just logged onto my main account, as in this was the only PS3 that I had purchased DLC and dl/demos on
I De-Activated this one through the Account management on XMB.
then followed this tutorial that gave me my act.dat

[/QUOTE]Worked out a solution, to keep my protected savegames, trophies and fix error 80029519 while activating purchased game on PS Store
Here's what i did using CFW 4.30 :
1.Install Multiman, will serve as FTP server and file manager
2.Login to PSN, and sync your trophies
3.Create a new user account(on ps3 not psn)
4.Using FTP server go to hdd0/home/0000000X (your profile having error)
5.Rename the profile that is having the error to /0000000Y (Y being any number other than the two profiles there)
6.Turn off ps3
7.Enter the ps3 recovery menu and Rebuild the database
8.Activate game for the account, test dling/activating purchase game/dlc from PS Store
9.Login your spare user account you created earlier
10.With file manager, /hdd0/home/ (you will notice that there are now 3 accounts 0000000X(rebuilt database account),0000000Y(original renamed account with your files),000000Z(the spare account)
11.Copy savedata folder from hdd0/home/0000000Y (original renamed) to hdd0/home/0000000X (new rebuilt account)
12.Rebuild database again using recovery menu
13.Login with your account, check if game saves are there, even test loading a protected save game in-game to be sure ( Bayonetta for instance )
14.That's it, from now you can delete folder hdd0/home/0000000Y or keep it as a backup just in case, no rush there

Thank you Rogero [/QUOTE]

He forgets to mention moving your trophy data in step .11, when you move your saves,
I moved them both then followed step .12: Rebuild database
when ps3 booted I synced my trophys successfully,
checked 2 game saves one was copy-right protected WRC 2013, Fifa was on internal both games were a little sluggish loading trophy data on first boot of game, second time round both ran sweet.

Thanks To Talibo

Hello, i got act.dat when activating my PS3, can this be used or it's REQUIRED ALSO to download a free add-on or content requiring activation? Won't work without doing the downloading part?
I'm asking cause i can use rap2rif with this, but i suspect it's not creating working .rifs..and i CANT download anything from psn that requires activation, it says activating and gives a error code.
I have only 1 PS3 activated. Any help? I'm on 3.55 KMEAW.

For example, i tried these themes confirmed working on 4.xx CFWS with reactPSN:
Code:
http://rghost.net/42204900
Password: ps3repack.com

I used rap2rif with my act.dat and idps, got .rif, copied to exdata, now installed theme .pkg from install packages..but it shows up as corrupt in themes.

you need to run reactpsn at least once to have a modded act.dat...the real act.dat will become act1.dat and reactpsn will create a new act.dat...this is the one you need...

Is it the one with all 111111111 when looked in HEX? Does it make console specific or it's universal and for example, you could upload your and i can use it with rap2rif?

@Mikuuh You're not supposed to put up direct links to content from that site!

That being said, when doing it the reactPSN way, you use the AA user / reactPSN generated act.dat. Don't use rap2rif on your pc, it's much more complicated that way.. just use react..
