E3 - NOR bios dump not valid
Hi there
Ive gotten myself hold of a E3 flasher. Getting it attached to the nor chip was a pain, as I always got the famous 10001100 error whilst backing up. Anyhow, I managed to clip it tight enough, tho, when I do the validation steps, I keep struggling with the same thing. (http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Validating_flash_dumps) It says the amount of FF's should be +10%, but I never get it higher then 1% strangely enough.. Is this a clip problem, do I need to try and update the e3, .. Thanks Thomas Heres an example of a dump: http://www.sendspace.com/file/mc4fst Last edited by Godrax; 12-17-2012 at 11:35 AM. |

You are getting closer to having the clip on good. Since it is making a dump and not giving an error.
But the dump is not valid. So the clip is still not on good enough. Use something to put constant pressure on the clip. Like foam, coins, or cardboard. You should also modify the clip, so it fits without hitting the transistors that are in the way. Read through this thread for ideas. Especially at page 2, where I posted pics of how I modified my clip.

@Godrax
It may be. I know after modifying my clip, I usually get valid dumps first try. On all models. Including that one. When you press the clip down, look to see the clip is flush with the mobo. I bet there is a gap on the side with the transistors. Updating the flasher, shouldn't matter on getting a valid dump. I have my flasher updated with the Samsung 10.28.2011 update.bin. Because it allows for multiple consoles. That update also is compatible with all nor chips. So a newer update.bin is not the problem.

The 'transistors' you refer to are actually capacitors btw...
Saves confusion in the future.
