Put a piece of thick glossy paper or thin cardboard between the E3 Flasher and the metal frame the motherboard sits on (if you have that metal frame attached).
Though it's probably just the E3 Clip not seated correctly. If you or someone you know can solder well I'd recommend E3 Linker. You'll be able to quickly wire BVCC and VCC to the 3.3v test point, wire a ground and see if the E3's LEDs become active. |

that image is from the E3 website thats why the ribbon will look different to the one you have (slight improvements since E3 did that pic) the way the ribbon curves over itself when you got it was due to it being used on a slim as the nor chips are positioned differently to the phats. make sure you dont make a fold line in the ribbon just let it naturaly "roll" over the clip when you use it on slims if you make a fold line then you risk damaging the ribbon.
