No liquid spills and yes with the board disconnected it has same issue

I've checked the ribbon cable looks ok it stills powers on without the power/eject board and have removed the bd drive and same issue. Do you think it might be earthing out somewhere or my Bluetooth module could be playing up.

not the power cord...but the component u put the power cord in at the back of the ps3.....i always forget to put it back in place and so it causes that probz...

Hey mate I thought of the same thing but yet the problem still exists I've changed the psu and all lines connected to it. I'll have to strip her down and check solder points and all connections this week sometime.

Just letting everyone know it's now fixed. I decided to install 4.31 spoofer and unexpectedly that fixed the problem. Has been shutting down and starting up fine, recovery menu works again thanks to all that suggested and offered fixes
