Removing HDCP
I think this issue has been brought up in the past, but the scene has changed quite a bit since then.
Is it possible to remove HDCP from the HDMI on PS3, finally making the PS3 usable with non-HDCP compliant hardware (also making it possible to record gameplay via HDMI)? HDCP on the PS3 was a terrible idea from the beginning, it would be nice to see this little problem disappear. |

Yes it is possible to record gameplay over component connections; removing HDCP would allow for recordings over HDMI. I don't know if this produces any noticeable difference in quality, but removing HDCP would allow for a clean HDMI-out.

Yes you will notice the the quality will degrade because it will convert the HDMI signal into a little better than composite signal. Im not sure if it's still on 720p.
