i say go on psn and shoot sony the middle finger, most games i play online are from original disks i own, and il be damed if they r gonna tell me i cant alter a product i buy and own, they dont own it anymore, ....they owned, retail owned....i now own....thats like telling me i cant put a amplifier on my stereo in a car i have bought and paid for, the truth, they can bann u if u go on psn yes, its their service....but!! if they bann me for the sole reason of altering my own property, and dont bann someone else that has done or not done anything to THEIR property, thats discrimination, and if they pry into my private property to find out whats in there, thats invasion of privacy...and if they alter my private property at all or cripple it, thats vandalism.....lol, i dont care what their tos says, the law is the law, and if they sell their product in America, they have to follow the law...........any one hear violins playing behind me lol

i think it was cheaters and players complaining about it that made things harder for cfw'ers in the first place and brought this all on.....i dont believe in sony banning u if ur just on cfw, but if u use it to ruin it for players that choose to stay on ofw and cant cheat to match u, i think they should kick u

American law is what got Graf f**cked, so I am curious which law you know that means he can now sue Sony for wrongful accusations? Oh and even by American law, it IS illegal to distribute, or use distributed, firmware that has been altered to function in a way that is detrimental to the owners of said firmware (the owner is Sony btw, not the person who purchased the PS3 as that is hardware)......... They sell you the machine, they license the use of the operating system

I DO agree with what you say about as long as you are running a genuine disc and not cheating they should not be able to ban you though, as that means they have used information that they obtained in an underhand way at best

EDIT Has anyone looked into the legalities of forcing FW updates and them not allowing simple FW downgrades by software as that IS limiting the use of your purchased hardware by the TOS which can technically only apply to the FW (excepting PSN of course).

GH did achieve one good thing with his JB of the iPhone and that was to deny a company the right to dictate that you stay with them as a service provider (phones)......... *Trundles off to have another peek at the JB ruling and see how it relates to Sony's restrictions on not allowing another OS to be used on the PS3*

There might be another reason to why i was banned, i used to have a problem with whats new, it would freeze my ps3 at start up... So i went into rebug toolbox and changed settings including console id.. Being semi new to 4.21 not realizing you could remove whats new from system settings
