hello all just was curious and wanted to know .. if i've removed the nor chip .. will progskeet read/wirte the nor/nand using 360 clips ? when it's desolded or it wont ?

No because nor has more pins and different package type ie reads writes with different commands

umm.. i think u've got me wrong .. i mean if i have a NOR lets say spansion the same chip as in ps3 .. i wanted to read and write it but desoldered from the ps3 just the nor and the clip .. will progskeet do that ?

Yes for the NAND it does but the nor requires more ma than the skeet can provide nor requires 3.3v~1500ma and skeet will only provide 3.3v~350ma

That's why dead flashing / reading just with progskeet on nor always gets bad dumps errors

You could hook up an ATX power supply though, prolly cut the trace going back to the ProgSkeet and join their GND. Then you've got enough power for NOR and should be able to read/write fine.

You'd wanna use a DIP48 for NANDs and a DIP56 for NORs though really, instead of those clips (presumably you're struggling to get good dumps?)..

thanks sara rly those info's important .. umm so if we got our 3.3v 1500ma adapter.. and powered the nor.. using a tsop56 with some simple modifications it will be great thing to test gonna make this small thingy soon :P thanks sara

You'd have to put atx power to your clip he means as the tsop won't be on the ps3

FYI the caps are only there to take the ripples out of the 3.3v but the skeet is pritty stable

Any the 3.3v can be anything over 1500ma the nor will only draw that much so you can use a 5000ma if ya get me

mistawes :P u just enterd my mind :P but no im not struggling to get good dumps it's just about curiousity :P

@Sarah1331 : I'm aware of that, hence why I mentioned the outsourcing of power, and yes it'd be modding the clip, or get a DIP socket and connect onto that.

umm guys .. sorry to waste ur time in such questions but.. when ppl usually downgrade what's the story behind blue ray loss and such ?? ps. maybe that's a good reason why i may desolder the nor :P and power it outside the ps3 ? haha :P
