The 3000 series can not go to 3.55, and that's the required firmware to install cfw.

The lv0 (or is that lv1) keys were released on-line a month ago. I thought yay! Cracking and hacking galore for the pS3 making it essentially open source. How wrong was I!
Doh! So yeah, back to good old hardware reflashing of firmwares. A Ps, I'm still wondering what the release of these magic keys actually means in terms of what it offers the hackers and devs... |

That is why the PS3 needs to be on 3.55, to install newer CFWs. The release of the keys, has allowed for pawning any Sony firmware released. But the catch is to install it, you need to be on 3.55 or lower.
