Why should I connect my xbox 360 controller to my pc?
What benefits does having an xbox 360 controller for my computer give me? Can I only use it in games or does it work on my desktop environment too? What's the scoop with it?

Some might say that it gives them more of a feel to the game. If you are used to shooters or GTA Series type games on consoles it's a comfort thing. I personally don't do it, but when I play some exclusive titles on console I get used to aiming with the controller. It's all about preference and comfort level. Try it, you might like it! Plus, Walking Dead is actually more fun with a controller.

the scoop?? its a controller, the scoop is obviously to play games

why should you?? that depends on whether or not you want to use one to play games

as for controlling windows you can get specialized applications to allow that but its not worth it IMO

Check THIS for the DIY wireless method, using an old RROD 360 for parts (or a fiver to buy) and a USB cable to connect them.

Works a treat! I noticed games like Just Cause 2 on PC work flawless with no configuring buttons etc. I think it's brilliant because some games are meant for a controller imo, other times the keyboard and mouse are king.

I do not advise you to use an Xbox 360 controller with your PC if you intend to play FPS (or any shooting game period) multiplayer games such as Battlefield 3/Call of Duty. Why? They suck against skilled mouse & keyboard users because of how fast and accurate the mouse is. You can do a 360 degree turn with a mouse in a tenth of a second. Controllers are just way too slow for FPS games.
