Use Original Gamecube Control Pad On Wii Or WiiU - Wii U Hax

Have you got an original Gamecube control pad lying around, being unused, now you can use the control pad on your Wii or WiiU, there is a catch though, you need to have some skill with soldering, here is a quote between the modder and the source:

Gametista.com: How long approximately did this take?
gummowned:Â*It took me 10 hours from start to finished. I started around 5pm on Monday and didn’t complete it until 3am. Mind you I had no idea how exactly I was going to go about the mod when I started since there was no type of guide or anything for such a mod like this. Now that I know what to do it will take only a few hours to make another one.
GT: What were the parts you used?
gummowned:Â*A [Wii Remote] to test with. A Wii Classic Controller to cut up and fit into the [GameCube] pad. 30 gauge wire (has to be this size). A Dremel to cut the [Classic Controller's] PCB. A [GameCube] pad to mod. Of course a soldering iron and solder. Tri-wing screwdriver helps to open up the pads and a continuity tester helps too.
GT: Are you planning on putting a guide out so that others can follow suit.
gummowned:Â*I’ll be working on a guide but the mod is pretty difficult because it will involve soldering very tiny wires to very small traces on the PCB.

Not really very interesting....I was expecting a software hack which obviously would be something special.

Physical modification of a control pad is hardly news, it's just electronics.

Whenever you have the ability to post news, you can decide what is and isn't news, until the STFU and enjoy what is posted.

Also how the f*ck could this be done via software ?

Actually, you're right on this. I didn't realize this was going directly into the wiimote (yes I'm a tool and just thought "here we go another controller mod")

Quite impressive.

will resume STFU-ing

edit - and feeling like a tool

Correct, it is a terrible gamepad, but for the ultimate GC experience with a GC emulator on the vWii it is very nice

I can't stand it either, but there's people who talk up the "Wavebird" wireless pad as the second coming of christ back in the day, maybe something could be done with that...

Think it was called a wavebird anyway...I never tried one out, but the way people talked it just stank of that overhype rubbish like how the Dreamcast had the best game library ever like we all say now...

Is there really as reason for this? I was under the impression that the Wii U has nothing to do with GC in the first place and we should be looking into new tablet controller for mods....
Just my opinion not an attack on the mod from the OP

I suppose it's just celebrating what is possible. I guess also it would save on the cost of a Wii controller pro.
