Hi,

I cannot believe this, but had a perfectly good PS3 slip with FW3.41 and was using Amazebreak dongle. Because of not being able run newer games I wanted to install the 3.55 CFW, in order to do this the first step is to upgrade to 3.55 OFW. I downloaded from THIS site and guess what, it was 3.72... now I am completely hosed. Why would a site dedicated to PS3 hacking, etc. would fake rename a 3.72 to 3.55. If anyone had this similar issue, please let me know what I can do to install a custom firmware. Is there a 3.72 CFW?? do I need to perform the E3 flash method?? any help would greatly be appreciated.

Post the link you downloaded it from.

Did you download it from the download section? I have used that file myself, it's 3.55 OFW.

Is it at all possible you had a disc in the drive that caused the update to come off the disc instead of the USB pup?

it is definitely ofw the md5 meet up. You probably hit the nail on the head with the disc in the drive.

This is why you should always check the files Md5! if they don't match try again! It's either you downloaded the file from the wrong place or you had a disc in the drive....


As for jailbreaking you will need a flasher yes.

I just checked http://www.ps3hax.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=557 and the MD5 hash is correct, that is 3.55 OFW.

Disk in drive or just another "troll" thread I guess.

wow, I cannot believe it ... yes, I had a disk in the drive and didn't even see any warnings in documents I read about upgrading to 3.55 CFW that I should check this... I am ticked! so, how do I get the flasher?? and is it easy to do? I've seen made youtube posts that 3.72 CFW has been out. I assume this is BS??

If you need a warning plastered in big letters about not having a disc in drive when upgrading, then stay well away from flashing it yourself mate, as trust me, you will bugger it up

ok, first off... I've modded systems before. I am sure I am not the first one that ran into this... second, I was trying to warn whomever wanted to go through the upgrade to 3.55 to keep this in mind. Who knows, maybe this post will become useful to some.

So, sorry ps3hax, maybe the subject of this thread should have been different.

BTW, I have seen more obvious things listed in step-by-step documents (i.e. need a PS3, duh...) then for the author to simply put a warning to remove disk in drive. So, don't be a d*ck and start accusing one of not doing the obvious. Just remember, hind sight is 20/20!
