Why is gaming with CFW so unreliable?
About three quarters of games I've downloaded don't start for some reason, and it takes a lot of research to get just one working - sometimes there doesn't seem to be a definite fix. Things like black screen and error codes. I'm not trying to troll here, but if you have an xbox 360 with flashed firmware, you simply run the iso through a scan, select to fix if needed and burn it, nothing ever goes wrong. I really want to get into the ps3 scene, but it's a turn-off when half the time a game won't work as-is.

ps3 games expect to run from a disc.
modifying every little bit of code that points to the disc isnt an easy process if you could burn the disc then it would be different on 360 also, games are made to be hdd installed as well as disc, thats why iso2god works perfectly but in the end, you are getting the games for free so deal with it :P

are you on 3.55 cfw or 4.30 cfw? if on 3.55 your massivly outdated and finding fixed eboots is so 2011. on 360 you have to have a burner and blank dl dvds, if u have a bad burn you wasted time and money, ps3 its just copy/paste to a hdd and if shart dont work u delete and try again. on 4.30cfw every game should run with no fixes.

Black screen straight away, before the game displays anything Black screen and three beeps from the ps3 console, then it resets itself Eight number error message which other people online don't seem to be getting. What's really annoying is that you're not told what the error is, e.g on the 360 if "failed to authorize disc" comes up, a little googling shows that you've most likely not burnt the disc properly. BTW I'm using the latest multiman, already tried 4.08, had the same problems. Am I meant to set whether a certain game is internal or external in the options? Also, really old games like Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy 13 always work perfectly. Last edited by bluejeans; 12-22-2012 at 03:53 AM. |

First, not all games work from app home. Some need a gamedisk in the drive and need to be started from the disk ico in the Xmb.
Second, For all the error codes you wrote about check this wiki page : http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Error_Codes. |

How does it recognise the name if the drive is dead?
If its dead then 90 percent of the games won't run from app_home. |

1. BDROM emu should be on STANDART not HERMES 2. In game options on multiman select the BD MIRROR option 3. Start the game again and PLAY..

Well, when I go to run an original game on disc, I get the 80010514 error. And in multiman, when trying to rip the disc it just sits there doing nothing. The drive can read ps2 and ps1 games just fine.

So the laser just won't read the bluray, there is your answer, you need to go to Rebug and setup dummy BDEMU.
Or replace the laser. |
