Hi, new here and pretty new to the PS3 and what needs doing to mine.
I don't want to have a faux pas and post what I need in the wrong section then get a load of experienced gamers/hackers telling me that I've posted in the wrong section so I thought maybe a little about what I'm after should go into my introduction and someone may be kind enough to point me in the right direction. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Basically I bought a PS3 off someone purely because I wanted a bluray player and this guy needed a quick sale so sold it to me for £70. What he failed to tell me was that it is an American model and does not play local region bluray. I've looked into changing this and have found something called the LV2 patcher and apparently there are several other files which can be copied into the patcher folder to update/change the region. Unfortunately I've looked around the internet and this appears to not be something for noobs to be messing around with if they have no help/support from people who know what they're doing. That would be me. When I have looked around I find different versions of LV2 and I really don't know the difference or where to get the patcher from in the first place. I then further don't know where to get the files to copy into it and what to do with them once I have them. Like I said, TOTAL NOOB. So could someone please tell me where I should be posting this request for help because I can't make heads nor tails of this forum system. Hi and thanks to all for any future help I am offered. Thanks, Travis (28yr male, UK) Last edited by stationdragon; 12-24-2012 at 09:27 AM. |

To use such files you need to be on cfw, without that you are screwed.
Firstly can you post your model number (cech....) secondly the firmware version. Then we can look a bit deeper for you. oh and hi, welcome m8y

First of all you cant even access your ps3 files unless your system is on firware version 3.55 or less. If your on a system firmware that is higher than 3.55 you will need to purchase a hardware flasher, open your system and install it then downgrade to 3.55..........this is of course assuming your system is capable of downgrading to 3.55 as a flasher is only capable of downgrading a system to its lowest possible firmware, which is the one it ships with. There is information all over that if you put your model number which is located on the bottom of your system it will tell you what firmware it was shipped with.
Hope some of this was helpful. |
