So either stricter gun control is needed or better mental health institutions

Its not the American people that put America on a pedestal, its government does though.

Is easier to suggest better health care for America, than suggest anything for Syria.
No, I know that wasn't your intention. I was just proving the same point that you said about Syria not even being on the news. I'm sure there's stuff happening all over the globe that should make the news but with sensationalist news media guns in America is the hot topic. Controversy sells. Others buy into it.

I also don't mind stricter gun laws. I'm just not for the government taking anything else away from us. The thing about America is that the government was designed to serve the people not the other way around. People that aren't American don't seem to get that. It's not about being violent or a gun thing. We're just obsessed with out rights. Take it from people who have guns, you don't wanna be the ones caught without them.

Sad but true about Syria. BTW, we get health care starting in 2014.

Talking about media, the last national news on BBC before Christmas day, spoke loads about the US shooting and how the guy was a criminal and how he shouldn't have owned a gun, etc.

There was ZERO news about Syria, in fatc most times i see anything about Syria or Palestine/Israel, it is through people i follow on Twitter.

LOL aren't all governments supposed to serve the people, but rarely they do

Peopel b*tch and b*tch about the health care in UK/N.Ireland, but honestly it is the greatest thing ever, its all free and from what i personally received so far, it is quite good, if a very tiny country like UK can have something like that, there is no reason for any other country not to have something like that.

Same here. I have friends from Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Iraq, Lebanon, and lots of other places. I was in an international study group at college here. I learn a lot from them. They're some of the nicest people I've ever met and wouldn't do a thing to harm each other. In New York Jews and Muslims get along fairly well and live amongst each other. In fact, I've been wished a Merry Christmas this year by one of each.

While I agree with you on what governments should do, I think it's a little different depending on your government. For instance, in a monarchy I think it's obvious that they think of the people as royal subjects who's purpose is to serve the crown. It's so convoluted here though. When our country was founded the majority of the people simply wanted freedom. However, the elite of our country exploited that want for freedom for their desire to no longer pay taxes. It was a win-win in the beginning...until those same people who didn't want to pay the king taxes started charging people tax. Since the great depression and the inception of the CIA we have all been pawns of the government and their scandals and conspiracies. But that's mostly been the conservative gov't. I could go on and on but I'll just leave it at that.

In 2009 I was diagnosed with a tumor in my head. I was denied all types of assistance from our government. My college paid for the treatment. If I wasn't in school I probably would have died. I don't care what anybody says, I'm glad that soon enough people we will have healthcare and people never have to face that problem again. The whole reason we haven't had it is so doctors and politicians can become filthy stinking rich of the medical system. Then they go and convince people who are non the wiser that it's a bad idea to have health care because it doesn't serve the wealthy peoples interest. And so goes most the rest of the problems with America. The same thing with the recession. Most people don't even realize that the recession had nothing to do with them. The problem was that the rich weren't getting richer. The poor always have and always will live from paycheck to paycheck. The politicians were too stupid to realize that if you raise gas prices and people have to spend their extra $40-$80 a week in gas then that means it's less they can pump into the general economy. At the same time they spent the last 50 years lobbying capital hill to send all our jobs overseas and then moan to Barack Obama that we don't have any jobs. In 2008 Bush handed out 160 billion worth of stimulus checks to lower class Americans in the form of $800 checks. They in turn spent that money and it ended back up in corporate pockets. In the end the purpose was to bail out corporations. Same with the bank bailouts. US banks own 5 times the amount of foreclosed home as their are homeless people in America. We voted in president Bush(twice) who practiced inside trading in the Harken scandal and he gave Enron a false line of credit. Martha Stewart went to prison for that but his daddy bailed him out. Then people were dumb enough to vote him in to office...well the first election was stolen. Next thing you know he's lying to congress about WMD's and committing war crimes. Ronald Reagan said in the 80's that the national deficit has nothing to do with social security, yet his same party is trying to do away with social security to fix the deficit. They're only doing that to punish the liberals and poor class who vote against them. The same thing with the tax breaks. Their only intention is to protect the wealthy and if the president doesn't then they punish the poor. It's a sad society we live in.

Funny, we had that system also long ago.... but because the government was involved they didn't have enough control over the costs aka "who cares what is costs".... it slowly changed into a log monster controlled by way to many managers..... And slowly we pay more and more for the health care that was once free.... atm I pay 125 euro a month with a 220 euro own risk a year, next year it is 350 euro as I remember.... great system controlled by THIEFS

On Topic: Why is it most people in the US still think they live in the Wild West from 150 years ago?

My heart sincerely goes out to all the american famillies who have to endure a torrid christmas due to inhebriated ****witts who have no mental stabillity and clearly wish to ruin the lives of innocent famillies. Sadly nobody spots these people early enough to refrain them from damaging family lives forever.

Thats cause you can't tell whos "mentally ill" by just looking @ them and i ask all people who believe this is a mental health issue... what criteria would you go by as to report some1 you believe has a legit mental illness ? Who would you report them to also?
