How to play / install games over 4GB from INTERNAL HDD?
Hey guys
I'm new to the PS3 scene so excuse the potentially stupid noob question I've got a backup that I want to play that's over 4GB in size (10 actually) Searched the forum and there were many suggestions of splitting on the FAT32 partition for MM to rejoin and play etc. Someone however mentioned that the internal HDD could handle files larger than 4GB. Since this was my preferred option anyway (I'm putting all my games on the internal HDD to avoid clutter), I decided to use FTP to move the game to the GAMEZ folder along with all the others After multiple attempts and much frustration about the FTP transfer speed, I managed to get the whole game over. If I browse over FTP its right there HOWEVER, Multiman does not show it - All the other games are there except this one Like I mentioned, I dont want to move it to external and split and rejoin etc. The internal HDD can handle the file, its on there. Can someone please explain to me how I can get Multiman to recognize the file and let me run it? Thanks |

Is it a .pkg file or game backup?
If .pkg file just click on it in mM and it will begin the install. If it's a game backup, make sure that; a) the PARAM.SFO file is included and in the correct place..eg dev_hdd0>GAMES or GAMEZ>game title/ID>PS3_GAME> b) the game is in the dev_hdd0>GAMES or GAMEZ>...folder Refresh the list if necessary.

just hit refresh, located at the top of the Games menu in multiman and it should find your newly added game. |

The game is just like all the others Bxxxxxxx folder inside which theres PS3_GAME folder etc and is located in the GAMEZ folder Now that you mention I need to look for a .sfo file, I inspected the contents of the subfolders and this one is quite different from all the other games in that theres ONE huge file 9.9GBs (extension xxx.psarc.sdat and located in PS3_GAME/USRDIR folder) Is this some sort of a compressed format? Maybe the .sfo file is in there somewhere? |

Disregard the thread guys
I screwed up is why there was only one file. I'd tried initially to move the entire folder to an external PS3 disc with cut paste, at which point I found out that a file was over 4GB and after investigating as I described, I decided to put the file on the internal HDD The initial cut paste however, moved everything else that was < 4GB, leaving just the one file in the original location.... Too much time went by in between - even upgraded the internal HDD of the PS3 I totally forgot about that failed cut paste operation ![]() Thanks for your help |
