i have 320 gb slim Ps3
model cech-2508b
on 4.31 firmware

i have updated my ps3 to firmware 4.31 and i saw the jailbreak of 4.31 i was very happy but when i downloaded it and put it into my 16gb cruzer blade which was formated fat32 in format. Then i made the path in the usb like this PS3>UPDATE>PS3UPDAT.pup and when i pluged into ps3 and tried to update from it the ps3 said that no applicable update data was found . i also tried it in safe mode but there was no result .please help me
this is the file name i downloadedPS3UPDATCEX-4.31-CdEXv4.0____-TeamSGK.PUP it is was of 139 mbi what went wrong

please help me i was very delighted to see the jailbreak of 4.31 but when i cannot install on my ps3 i feel vey unhappy so please help me

you can only install this on 3.55.....

but it on the site they say there is a 4.31 custom firmware availible

There is....but you can't install it unless you are already on 3.55. That's the only way to install 4.xx CFW/MFW.

As @OoZic stated, look into downgrading your PS3 to 3.55, 1st.
Then, you can install 4.xx CFW.

not to mention that the file name would have to be called PS3UPDAT.PUP not PS3UPDAT.pup....but being your on 4.31 ofw now...you can only downgrade with a flasher unfortunately....which i have like no experience at being i have an old phat 80gb (non BC ) and was already at 3.15 when i first got it....the timing was like perfect for me....

Depends, only the very first 320gb models in the 25xx range can be flashed back to 3.55.... All models from year 2011+ have 3.56 or better. OP has to check with the minver pup first or remember if his PS3 was once on 3.55 before we can advise him further....
